And he says Newcastle have jumped in and offered Aston Villa £36m for Duran.

I can tell you on these things sometimes a contact at selling club gets another club to make a supposed speculation and rumor to entice and encourage the buying club not to miss out.

Someone with a bit of Insider knowledge reckons he was offered a new contract back in January but didn't want it. Seems he wanted a move more than us wanting to sell him.

He wanted to leave, he is also the only first team player  (worth £££)who could be replaced your not replacing bailey, Watkins, mcginn etc without getting extremely lucky with a punt or spending man city money.
It's not ideal but he had made his mind up he could do better than us.
