He was signed as ⅓ of a replacement for Grealish, was he not? And that is probably about right.

As was Bailey and he has since proved himself more than that.

I think we're getting close to the tipping point in terms of cohesion given turnover at this stage, with diaby going (and probably Duran), i'd focus on 2 additional forward / am players and live with cash for another year, rather than risking further upheaval.

Buendia has a huge question mark against him. Love his want to win attitude and we do need a player that has a few tricks up his sleive but I keep remembering how easy he got out muscled.
I thought he's improved a lot from his first season. If he comes back issue free from the injury we have some player on our hands as a nr 10.

I think with Cash, Konsa and Nedeljkovic, we have players with international and Champions League experience. I don't think it's as essential as we may think.

Add in the experience we have on the left, and I also wonder whether one of them is capable of playing at RB too.

I wonder if we'll look at Chalobah now that Chelsea have frozen him out?

I prefer Konsa at CB, but if Unai want's to persist with him at right back then we definitely need more cover at CB I think and with his versatility Chalobah would seem a decent fit?

With that said, if we're looking to play a mainly defensive RB. Wan Bisaka also seems decent value to me.

The thing with Buendia is (and the same goes for all other players) is that he/they can't afford to be off their game now. He's not our record signing any more, and so he can't afford to get away with things like the misplaced passes straight out for a throw, and having a strop when subbed. He's a good player with lots of fine attributes, but he's going to have to maintain high standards to have a sniff of a chance of playing regularly.

I think Konsa will definitely start most games at RB, especially in CL and against the top English sides. Quite apart from how good he is there as a 1-1 defender, him and Pau are not that solid as a pair.

Amidst all this we still have Olsen on the books.

I definitely agree that he will be a useful squad player, and as the season progresses he should be able to show us what he has in his locker™

Mo Salifou is rumoured to still haunt the North End cells at nighttime.

Be interesting to see what the midfield looks like a new lineup

I see a lot of potential starting lineups with both Tielamans and Barkley  in them
I don’t think Tielemans is consistent enough and a bit lightweight and I don’t think Barclays will be good enough, I think they will be useful over a season especially Tielemans but if they are regular starters I fear we won’t be troubling the top 4

Seems a bit downbeat when Tielemans was probably our best midfielder in the second half of last season. What i think the purchase of Onana, Barklay & Barrenechea do is allow minutes to be more evenly distributed withouth such a drop off to Dendonker, Iroegbunum etc.

I do think we need at least one sit up and take notice signing though but there's a risk that destabilises the team given we've already got Rogers, Mcginn, JPB, Buendia, Bailey, Illing-Junior, Ramsey, Dobbin (who i don't think will play much at all) (& Tielemens) vying for 3 positions...

We finished top 4 with Luiz in the midfield, and he was shit from January onwards.

I think my 6 at the moment would be Onana, McGinn, Tielemans, Rogers, Bailey, Watkins
