That Somerville looks sub El Ghazi shite to me.

El Ghazi did well for us but last season Somerville looked near the level Grealish was in the championship. He's a few levels above El Ghazi.

Doesn't always mean they thrive at a higher level, Buendia for example, but he looks absolute quality.

Well he stank out the play off games, when it mattered, and did fuck all when they went down.

We don't need to shop in that market at the prices quoted, and have a better player in Philogene anyway.

I’d agree we have invested in Philogene now so it’s vital he gets games. Add Morgan, Junior and Dobbin and I think Diaby’s departure is covered (Ramsey and Buendia too).  If we buy another player then we’d be writing off at least one of the players we have just bought which strikes me as bad business.

There is no chance we will sign Nico Williams. Barcelona are desperate to pair him in a side with Lamal. It’s the only chance they have to get close to Real Madrid and even then it won’t be close enough. It’s lovely to think we might have a chance but we really don’t. Those types of players become available once we are an established CL club.
Let's see

Bidace / Rogers / Bailey . add Williams and we are cooking

Bidace?

I mean, we have enough problems with the spelling on here without getting their entire name wrong.

Sounds obvious to say but I'd assume someone like Tielemans would have a much better goal/assist number if he'd played the same amount of minutes as Dougie, for example.

Dougie had 9 goals (however many were penalties?) and 5 assists from 2993 minutes. Tielemans had 2 goals and 6 assists from 1622 minutes.

I'd assume there'll be more rotation in some positions this season, but I'd be looking at Tielemans and Rogers (and Ramsey if he's fit) to be upping their numbers this season.

Buendia? That player we've been looking forward to the return of all last season?

I've been one of them but his stats for Norwich in his last season in the second division were outstanding. He hasn't thrived really in the top division (yet) like many (including me) thought he would. Still a lot of hope he will show us his worth this season .

He's been told about 5 times already and is just clearly looking to wind people up for a change

I'm not sure why people are so against the idea of Raphinha, they'll need to drop the price on him but if he could be an option for less than we're getting for Diaby (which will happen as the window goes on if Barcelona are still desperately chasing Williams) then for me he'd be an upgrade.

Somerville is ok but I firmly believe we've already signed the best winger from last seasons championship (along with a guy who probably would've been in the mix if we hadn't picked him up in January).

Buendia has a huge question mark against him. Love his want to win attitude and we do need a player that has a few tricks up his sleive but I keep remembering how easy he got out muscled.

Agree with the sentiment about being out muscled at times. However as he’s most likely now dropped down the pecking order a tad due to his injury and incomings , I still believe he’ll be a breath of fresh air as a fringe / squad player down to his attributes in picking a pass and general hardworking ethic.

Yes, and he was very often better coming on as a sub than he was when starting, so that will come in handy if it’s still the case. There were games when he replaced Coutinho, completely outshone him, and found himself back on the bench next game.

The reason he looked so good when replacing Coutinho was often where we were struggling to unlock a defence, and Coutinho only has one speed and it gives them time to react.

Buendia is a little ball of energy and immediately upped the pace and started playing quick balls that cause more problems in those situations.

We sorely missed that at times last season.

Buendia so long as he comes back fit will be a very very useful squad player…when he was signed he was a replacement for Grealish and nigh on if not our record signing and he did ok without lighting anything up.  The way we have come on in last 12 months he will be able to come back slowly and will get plenty of opportunities to impress and prove himself.

He was signed as ⅓ of a replacement for Grealish, was he not? And that is probably about right.
