I refuse to believe anybody who isn't an Everton fan has watched them of their own volition when Villa aren't playing them. You might be into S&M but surely you're not that extreme.
You watched them as well yeah?

Absolutely not. Instead I acted as a shrink for Evertonians in work who would explain to me in detail most Mondays why they were shite.
They didn't say it was because of Onana by any chance? Nah, I hope he's going to be great for us obviously. More the Lille Onana rather than the Evertonian version.

I've got a mate whose messaged me to say he's not sorry to see him go, as he didn't stand out. Fair enough, he watches that tripe not me, but I think context of watching the ball sail over your head with 30% possession doesn't create good conditions for midfielders to shine.

Exactly, although we don’t need him to shine, just do the Kamara job as Unai tells him

I agree, it's likely to be more difficult for a player to flourish in a poor team than a top one. England for example.

Well quite. That donkey we have up top, you wouldn't think he'd scored 40 goals last season.

He's 22, naturally inconsistent and playing under pressure of relegation, in a really limited side. With us, he gets the best manager in Europe outside of Pep, he's got loads of quality around him and he will have the different type of pressure of Boobie and Enzo pushing him.

We needed a direct replacement for Kamara, who's likely to take until next year to get back up to speed. At the same time it adds strength and height to our team. Hopefully they'll take Dendonker as part of the deal.

Delighted with Onana. Pace, physicality, height, athleticism, good tackler.

Exactly what we have been missing in the middle since Kamara got injured.

It a yes from me. Absolutely...

For my own purposes, sorry if self indulgent, but looking at the squad and the multiple positions some can play, with their respective back ups. Gives a sense of how versatile some players are and also the depth we have.

Goalkeepers:
Martinez --> Olsen/Gauci

Right Backs:
Konsa/Cash --> Ned

Centre Halves:
Pau/Mings --> Konsa, Carlos

Left Backs:
Maatsen --> Digne, Illing, Moreno

Defensive Midfield:
Kamara --> Onana, Enzo, Donk

6/8:
Tielemans --> Barkley, Onana, McGinn

Wide Left:
JJ --> Rogers, Diaby, Dobbin, Emi, Illing

Right Midfield:
McGinn/Bailey --> Philogene

10:
Diaby/Emi/Rogers/Tielemans

Centre Forward:
Ollie --> Duran

Cull:

I think Moreno, Duran, Donk and possibly Olsen will be up for the chop. We need a Luiz replacement and and Duran replacement. Then we win the league.

I don’t know any Everton fans, but they’ve all just text me to say he’s the best player ever.

I agree with most of this but I do wonder if we might be thinking of Kamara as a CB option as well once he's fit. He's played their before and would give us another ball playing choice back there.

This summer window has two phases, the first one was about satisfying a regulation without sustaining lasting damage and while Luiz is clearly a major loss, we’ve did it and still built out the squad.

Now we’re into the second phase where I’d expect us to make 2-3 Champions League-ready additions. Exciting.

I reckon we’re done now for midfield options.

I genuinely have no idea how this squad will look at the end of this summer.  It's quite exciting, isn't it?  That right hand side still feels a little weak if you take Bailey away, and he does like the occasional injury.  Direct replacement for Duran, Beier (feels more likely than Abraham to me)?
Carlos out and replaced?

It's going to be a very different side to the one that appeared for most of last season, with Buendia and Mings back also...

I don't think it happened as much last season but when Emery first took over, Kamara seemed to often drop back to make it a 3 in defence.
