I know there a nonsense narrative around Diaby, but if we sell him the level of contribution he made will be difficult to replace. I think it’d be daft, especially if it’s only a similar amount to what we paid.

I agree Paul, he’s been scapegoated where there is no need for a scapegoat.

That's my view too.

I wouldn’t mind trading Diaby for a better player. It’s that simple really.

Whatever the stats say, IMO he didn’t turn in performances that made me think he’s as good as Ramsey, Bailey, Rogers or little Emi at their best.

Hypothetically, if he has agreed terms then that will be a clear sign to the club that he probably isn't fully committed. Having not been away on international duty, he should be back training soon.

Where there is smoke ......but €60M????

We’d have a squad of about 150 players if we were living by the “where there is smoke” mantra. I’ve got us signing about 60 players this summer according to the links you’ve posted.

He is back training, isn't he?

Maybe not, but what would you have said about Bailey a couple of seasons ago?

Alternatively, the club have told him he can go if the price is right... Doesn't Monchi tell everyone their sale price so they can find somewhere of they want to go?

Anyway, if he has been approached, and offered fucking loads of cash, and we're prepared to listen, it doesn't make anyone bad, it's just business.

I'd be disappointed, but as we've said before, every player has his price, albeit some are far more expensive than others.

I think Diaby will be electric this year. He gave lots of glimpses of what he can do. He had some good games, found it hard at stages but adapted and continued to contribute.

I hope he stays as think he has a role to play.

Well, that’s the risk factor - that we miss out on him tearing it up next season. But if Unai wants to spend big on one or two he thinks could make/keep us really competitive, while thinking we’re covered in Diaby’s position, then there’s a risk in not trading as well.

Just saying that “where there is smoke” is unlikely to be the case with every rumour. Not that you shouldn’t be posting them.
