Based on reports flying about, were offloading Luiz to Juventus, Cash to Milan and Duran to Chelsea. Its as if weve just been relegated instead of having qualified for the Champions League.

Our signings will come, and of those players only Doug is really good enough for a top 4 side.

Where did we finish last season?

You want to sign Dan Burn?

Come 1st July, we can flex the cash a bit.

Not particularly. I like the players who got us top four. We need extra strength in depth to cover for them, we don't need to be flogging them off for a pittance to some Bunga Bunga bellends.

Im talking myself around to the idea that 65m + two players in exchange for Luiz and Duran is a decent deal.

I just hope that gives us room for a bit of a spending spree after June 30th.

Juve have nothing to do with Bunga Bunga, but well done for mentioning the only scandal they're not associated with.

We finished top four but for some players that position is more sustainable than for others (i.e. Guimaraes is better than Dan Burn), and this is just elementary. If you think Cash is good enough for top four consistently, or Duran, then fair enough, but I just disagree.

AC Milan are being linked with Cash, not Juve. Matty Cash is clearly a good enough player for a top four squad because we finished fourth. We looked worse when he was played out of position, too.

Lots of people have been giving Cash stick all season. I'm not one of them, but I think it's clear he's not wholly in Emery's long term plans. Duran is a maverick who looks like he might be a bit chaotic to work with, and wasn't Emery's choice to start with. I think Emery wouldn't be sad to see him go, to be honest, especially for 40m.

Fair enough, abbasso Silvio etc.

Just finishing in the top four doesn't make you good enough for it long term, for example a player like Dan Burn. But I can see you're in ostrich mode on that point so let's just leave it.

(Edit for below: indeed so, edited.)

Sure, that was the Bunga Bunga link you queried, though.

If we are getting rid of Cash then 1. It would need to be for serious money. Milan are apparently offering E15 million, which is what we got for Matt Targett. Laughable. 2. It would make more sense to do so when we've seen Nedeljkovic develop into a first team player.

From what we've seen we've rejected the offer and want double that. Matt Targett, by the way, another player who's finished top four!

The club clearly have plans for that area of the defence so we'll have to see what they are.

Players like Phil Neville have won multiple titles, I doubt many people would think he's a title winning level player. I think it's absolutely fine to think some of our players are not top 4 quality just because we finished there.

Double that would be much more like it. Matt Targett was a bit part player for the Newcastle team that finished fourth. Dan Burn was pretty good when they finished fourth, I think. He's 32 now. Cash is 26 and approaching his prime.

Wouldn't want Burn if he were 26 either, very much their Phil Neville.

If you want to argue Cash's virtues that's one thing, but just saying 'he's top four because we finished top four' is just sophistry, mate, not argument.
