Might explain Luiz's poor form last couple of months of the season.

Carrying midfield on his back most of the season
..more likely reason. Having to sell someone like Luiz to balance books after qualifying for CL...it just beggars belief really.

Marco Reus? Always thought he was a cultured, classy player. Out of contract, he's 34 and being linked to the MLS.

Think he's going to LA Galaxy. A move to the UK seems unlikely even if his wife, Scarlett Gartmann, is a horse rider who has raced at Goodwood.

Some crooner/joker (?) called Dean Martin on H&V's Facebook has linked us. Probably bullshit but instead of Zaniolo/while Buendia gets back up to speed, I'd love him in. Incredible Champions League experience too.

He turned 35 last Friday. Anyone followed Dortmund enough to know whether he could still do a job for us?

Only watched them in Europe where he's seemed to be their goto guy to come on at 70 minutes and tie a game down.

I wouldn't think he's got the legs for the PL, but I'd be delighted to be wrong. Fully fit and functioning he was a wonderful player.

Aston Villa interested in Internacional defender Vitao

According to Diario de Sevilla, Aston Villa have joined the race to sign Internacional defender Vitao.

West Ham United are chasing his signature and have already launched a £6.8m bid, though, it’s thought the Brazillian club are after around £10.2m.

Vitor Eduardo da Silva Matos, commonly known as Vitão, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Internacional, on loan from Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk

It could just be agent talk to get West Ham to increase their offer.

We've not kicked a lucrative CL ball yet, so why do some think we shouldn't have to sell to buy to improve? I'll be amazed if we don't sell one of our stars for megabucks this summer.

I do wonder if Gallagher will just stay at Chelsea - and in some ways that’d be funny if it helps stuff them. Given his obvious affinity for Chelsea I’d be surprised if he went to Spurs.

Yeah, you wonder how convinced he is of coming to us. I can see why we are interested, but he may well fancy trying for a bigger move next summer on a free.

Yeah, I could see that.

But here's a player that's spent his career there so far being shipped out on loan here, there and everywhere and has had about 10 managers in the time he's actually been in Chelsea's squad, must feel like living in a washing machine.

We can offer the exact opposite of that now, stability, a world class coach that has singled you out as a key player and every chance you're going to be working with him for the duration of your contract.

I think it's a tempting proposition for any player serious about their career.

You've convinced me, and if I was a player I'd be asking for a pen!

We've definitely improved our standing over the last couple of seasons to the point where we are in the conversation. I think we need a bit more for a lot of players to start thinking we are the step up.

Many people are still expecting us to collapse.

I Agee with LeeB
He might want Chelsea, but Chelsea, I’ve never really wanted him

I’d like to see him at  Villa
He’s a player with good technique can score a goal and is also a box to box and a very busy type
Sometimes our play does become a little bit static and slow. We need busy people in there to speed it up a bit without giving the ball away.

All other things being equal, Chelsea would definitely want to keep Gallagher.  He was a key player in their late-season form, was essentially an ever-present in their team (he had more minutes than any other player in the league, by a margin), was second in their side for assists, and chipped in with 8 goals - including a very good one against us.  If Cole Palmer hadn't been so spectacularly good, he would have had much more attention for his excellent season.

They are not selling him because he's surplus to requirements. If they sell him, it's because they'll have to. He's one of the few FFP lucrative sales they have available, in that he's homegrown, and worth quite a lot at the minute.

If we don't go for him, and he does get sold, I guarantee it will be to another side with champions league ambitions, or one in it already.  Whether we can afford him or not is another matter, but he would definitely improve our squad and it would give us another first-eleven option that doesn't weaken the side on the field at the time.

I have a feeling the summer will see him get a lot more expensive, unfortunately.  Fingers crossed he doesn't get off the bench and we can get him for a reasonable amount.

Or, we get in there early, get him for £35m and he does his ACL ten minutes into England's first game.
