Barkley was outstanding last season, and has all the attributes that a midfielder in an Emery side needs in spades.  I think he'll be coming in as a replacement - hopefully that's a replacement for Dendonker rather than Luiz, but we shall see.

Carlos Soler will play for Aston Villa

Carlos Soler will play next season for Aston Villa . The Spanish international, who still had a contract with PSG for three more seasons, will change direction towards the Premier League to join the team led by Unai Emery. A move by a footballer who had even been linked to some Spanish teams.

However, as ElDesmarque has learned , Carlos Soler will leave for Aston Villa.

Erm..there's no mention of us in that link which is strange as our name is there in the url. It may have been edited but all it says is he's likely to leave. Plus, 'The end of the season brings movements in the winter market and possible changes of destination'? Winter?

It's a bit worrying that we have so many players who are to come back from serious long term injuries (Mings, Buendia, Ramsey, Kamara) and whose full recovery to fitness and form would be brilliant but which for now we can just best hope for. So if we do sign Barkley, then this may be the first of similar type signings during this summer of uncertainty as regards the health of the squad.

Great if he is and there's another coming in for Kamara, because if we're lucky, he might be starting to get on the grass by November if all goes to plan. There will still be another couple of months of getting his fitness right and starting to join in full contact stuff.

Looks like a rehash/reprise of the winter market rumour.
What we know about him is that he cost €18m (9 months left on contract at the time), and he has 3 years left on his current deal.
He has been disappointing at PSG, and was booed off weekend before last. He wasn’t in the matchday squad for last night’s cup final (although not sure if that was directly due to form or suspension or injury).
Word is that in the event a fee cannot be agreed, PSG could be open to a loan deal that covers a good portion of his (presumably substantial) wages.

Villa being Villa, I wouldn't be totally stunned if Rogers and Bailey's injuries took a wee bit longer to heal than the initial prognosis either.

Rogers going off at Brighton just looked like a slight pull from playing far too many games so think it's nothing more than a 3-4 week job and he'll be fine for pre season.

Bailey was clearly playing with an issue for last 6 weeks of the season so it's good he's not involved with Jamaica in the Copa America as he could really do with the summer off.

I haven't heard of any operation with him?

Bailey is in Jamaica doing nice things, so doesn't look like he's had any kind of major treatment. I agree about Rogers too, it felt like we were easing him in initially, and then other injuries meant he was playing more than intended, maybe. So hopefully that's nothing serious either.

As pointed out elsewhere, this is another benefit of having good depth in your squad. Players don't have to be risked with small niggles that turn into half a season out.

Are we 'keeping tabs' on anyone today?

Baylee Depepa "also wanted" by us, and about 12 other clubs

Leeds United player has ‘almost certainly played’ last game for Whites – Has options to pick his next club

Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool are among the clubs in the picture to sign Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville in the summer window, according to Algemeen Dagblad.

💰 According to reports prior to the play-off final, Leeds United would need to raise nearly £100m in transfer fees if they fail to win promotion.

I don't think he would go to Chelsea to sit on their bench. So £17 to £25 for a right-sided attacker.... it would be a yes for me

I think Emery wanted Summerville last season so I wouldn't rule it out. A lot of us thought Gnonto was the better player a year ago, but that was before Summerville had the season he's had.

Can we swoop for Gray too please?  Both are likely to be excellent in a few years time.
