I see Romano is claiming Dougie is on the wanted list at Arsenal, no surprise there and I reckon they tried to tap him up in January. It would explain a lot. More interesting is the figure we'd want for him, £85m. Good to know if he does go, it will be on our terms.

May I boldly suggest that anybody who claims Barkley will be brought in to replace Dougie spends the entire transfer window in Time Wasters with no access to the rest of the site. Maybe the Heavy Metal Appreciation thread could be bundled in for extra punishment.

I'd like to back this proposal.

This will all blow over in a couple of days I'm sure. Every window we have this.

No, everything about this screams cast iron certainty and it will be announced shortly.

Looks like we may have reached an agreement with Coutinho to cancel the remaining part of his contract allowing him to sign for Vasco da Gama without a fee involved. That should half our wage bill.

What’s the FFP impact from this type of thing? I’m guessing it depends on the details of the agreement.

There's not many I think we should move on from the first team.
Keep them all, add Mings, Boundia and Ramsey to the squad.

Obviously, Zaniolo and Lenglet will go.

It was reported he was on £125,000 a week so that would be £6.5m off the wage bill each year. He has/had two remaining years left on his contract.

We will take the loss on the non amortised part of his transfer fee but save on wages going forward.

I reckon we'll sell one high value player to create PSR room, and to be honest, it's probably going to be Dougie.

If we were offered 90-100m, I'd be tempted to take it. I'd rather not have to, mind.

I think it was £18m and we have two years left? So a £9m hit, minus whatever contractual wages he agrees to give up as part of the deal.

Yes, and we have to bear in mind that if we bring in that kind of fee, it would give us scope to invest double that, and probably more, in top-of-the-range first team players. People like Williams, Frimpong, Baena and that Barca centre-half would be within our financial parameters. Whether they’d come is a different matter, but CL qualification and the attraction of the Premier League would help with that.

Luiz to arsenal is old as mould. Arteta must have a massive blind spot if he thinks another midfielder will get them over the line next season. They've got Odegard, Rice and Partey which are as good a trio as any. It's obvious to everyone else they need an out and out goal scorer to be the final piece in the jigsaw.

That’s how I see it. If we hadn’t finished 4th then without the Champions League revenue then I think it could have been two high profile players.

And in selling him, that space you refer to to go out and get real top level players, would bridge a gap between getting into the CL and actually seeing the increased revenue from it.

THe whole thing is a balancing act, and Emery, Monchi and Vidagamy are going to really have to bring their A game to get the balance just right.
