He says that Chelsea value him at £50m but might have to accept less because he's only got a year left on his contract.

Unai Emery doesn't expect to sign many players this summer and admits #AVFC must be "intelligent" in the transfer market due to the strain caused by PSR.

"Our budget could be better. We have to manage at the beginning the FFP, then we can build."

Probably already posted. Probably why the strong links to Barkley on a free. Fucking hate FFP.

I expect Footy to revive Barkley's thread any minute. I expect the link is also bollocks.

I think that's being implied, which would make sense from an FFP point-of-view. One of the stories out also says that Spurs led (past tense) the race to sign him.

Spurs were trying to sign him in January apparently.

For those who are clued up with all things FFP, may I ask a stupid question?  If we did swap Duran for Gallagher and told the world that we value the deal at, say, £50m, would it make any difference to our FFP given that no actual money has changed hands and that we have brought Gallagher in for 50mill?  I presume the answer is no, but thought I'd ask if we are allowed to manipulate in that way.

Swaps and free transfers may be the intelligence that Unai is suggesting I guess.

As far as I can tell, if both players were valued at £50m, both clubs could book £50m into their incomings ledger.

Rather than a swap it would be a mutual agreement on the same fee for both players I’m guessing so both clubs can book the profit/distribute spend over duration of contract. I could very well be wrong though.

For FFP, buying clubs want to pay as little as possible and selling clubs as much as possible. I don't think a straight swap would make any difference to that otherwise we would have been seeing it happen a lot more. However the buying club has only a quarter / fifth of the fee on for that years accounts where the selling club puts all the fee (less any FFP owed).  So in that situation, and assuming a 4 year contract for both, we would be able to put 40mil on the accounts towards positive PSR and 12.5 off it for Gallagher, and Chelsea would be even better due to him being homegrown.

For Kortney Hause I would say.
