I also would be happy with McTominay.

From Footy’s list Kimmich might be worth the finding extra cash because he plays RB and DCM and therefore might be value for money. Williams’ versatility upfront also appeals.

They will have offers from bigger clubs though, but if we get champions league then…

Kimmich would be superb, but out of our league I suspect.

Although with CL qualification who knows?

I agree, but also watch how many players move to Chelsea and Man U this summer over teams like us.

Given our delicate FFP situation I doubt we will be spending much money in the summer window but I am expecting Monchi to pull a few loans and out-of-contract rabbits out of the hat

These days, too many players consider the length of a contract and a large salary as a successful career. Trophies doesn't come into it!!

The knack, 'separating the wheat from the chaff'.

I believe Unai would prefer to buy players with the attributes he likes such as desire, adaptability, ability to learn, graft, winning mentality, team player etc that he can develop into our system rather than a finished article that he has to convert or decontaminate. Morgan Rogers a prime example.

For this reason, I don't see many 'big name' signings for mega bucks unless Unai has managed them previously.

Feckless bunch of losers, doing their job to earn money and support their families.

Yes, great for their families but not great for the clubs who want to win trophies.

I'm sure they'll all work out as well as Mudryk and Alexis Sanchez.

They go hand-in-hand. Win stuff, earn more money.

No premier league footballer is struggling to put food on the table.  I think the point he's making - and one I agree with - is that it feels like for many players these days, success is defined by the number of supercars on the drive of their mansion, rather than the medals on their mantlepiece.

I've no problem with players spending their money however they want. I have a problem with them having the mentality that being able to buy lots of nice things means they've "succeeded" in their chosen career.  There are plenty of multi-millionaire ex-footballers without a single trophy to their names. I don't think we want players who will retire with a nice property portfolio, but an empty trophy cabinet, and be comfortable with it.

Thank you Smithy, you made my point a lot more eloquently than I ever could.

Unai is the man to sort out the 'wheat from the chaff'.
