I can see any potential Duran deal dragging out and not being done until near the transfer deadline. Which would, at least, stop him scoring against us for West Ham.

If we feel we can get someone who's better suited to the system and he isn't fully settled, I'd just let Monchi negotiate the best deal possible. As long as we at least breakeven.

Why would we possibly settle for anything like breaking even when he's proven himself in the Premier League and half of Europe is trying to sign him? It should be minimum thirty million (unless there is some player deal that benefits us).

If it was me, I would add on £5M for their time wasting efforts...

We aren't in the same situation as we were with Douglas Luiz.

We don't 'have' to sell the kid for lower than what we think he is worth.

And as he has been blowing kisses at Chelsea for over 12 months, but still putting in reasonable performances, I wouldn't be scared of continuing to use him as Watkins backup...

I can't imagine anyone coming in for Diaby at anywhere near twice what we paid. Similar to what we paid more likely, maybe even a bit less.

Then he is more than likely going nowhere...

Hopefully.

He’d likely be sent off within the first 10 minutes trying too hard to prove himself if his debut was against Villa.

We paid just under £36m upfront for Diaby with another £10m in add on's
If a Saudi club gives us 70m (euros) all upfront then think we take it

I always felt it was less than reported.

We qualified for the champions league in his first season with us - if there are add-ons, I'd bet we're obliged to pay a chunk of them already!

If they do, it's too good to turn down. One of the tabloids is making out that they've offered £51m with £19m paid upfront, which would be typical of Saudi club behaviour where they're happy to pay stupid money in wages but less so over transfer fees.

They think that once they have the player and agent salivating over the potential wages, they will agitate and the club will be pressured to sell.

They don't want to help clubs in Newcastles league...

According to the PBSE note in the latest accounts, we spent £68m on incoming transfers, which only applies to Diaby and Torres. So if the reported £31m for Torres is about right and there aren't any add ons, then Vinnie's figures look in the right ballpark. We potentially owe about £60m in add ons by the way, which I'd love to know who they relate to!
