We conceded too many goals last season. Sort that and we can seriously challenge .

This doesn’t happen often but I fully agree with you

Buendia will become the natural Diaby replacement .
As it stands might be Buendia and Ro(d)gers competing for the number 10 behind Watkins. Tielemans can also play there even Mc Ginn and perhaps Barkley.
Emery has options depending on specific tactics per game . We are building a stronger squad than ever.

Diaby was brought in as an upgrade to Buendia. Anyone relying on Buendia, after a 12 month injury is going to be disappointed. He was hugely underwhelming before the injury.

If Diaby goes and there's nothing but Twitter bullshit to date, we'll sign a serious replacement.

Diaby has been anything but a Buendia upgrade. He doesn't have the technical competence of Buendia.
Diaby was getting dropped last season so if he stays he's going to have a very hard time getting games other than Carabao Cup and sub appearances .

Well it wasn’t rocket science to work that one out.

Getting dropped? He played in 38 games last season so that's absolute garbage

I quite like Emi B, but I think there’s some rose tinted reflection on his time this far. He’s had some lovely moments, but there’s been a lot of dross too.

No worse than Diaby having no fucking idea what’s going on at times last year. I don’t know if it was his assignment or not being in a natural position, but there were far too many matches where he would disappear and contribute absolutely nothing. With the reputation he came with, there is no reason why he should be getting left on the bench at the start of matches or getting replaced by a £10m kid from Boro that no one had ever heard of.

Emi never hides. He may get pushed off the ball.. but he’s ace in the air for his size, much tidier on the ball and doesn’t just float around doing nothing. At least he’s got some grit and pride in his performance. Diaby couldn’t care less, and if he’s already agreed terms to go play in the Saudi league, than good riddance.

Don’t mind if he stays, but he better improve if these Saudi links are going to keep popping up.. which if true, his agent is clearly peddling.

Not massively different to Diaby then.

After Watkins, I felt Buendia was going to be Emery’s next big project.  Just a hunch, but a lot of buendia’s energy was expended chasing lost causes and Emery could have - and will? - hone that so he is more effective but without losing the fight in his belly.

The timing of the injury was a real kick in the balls as he may never get that momentum back.

He started 25 games and only averaged 58 minutes per game in the 38 he played.

Absolutely….he seems to have improved massively whilst being injured…like Diaby he was ok without excelling.  As record signings would expect more from both but in a world of shit or world class it seems you can’t just have done ok.

Milan turn to Aston Villa and Colombia forward Jhon Duran

A new transfer target has emerged for the Milan attack, as Sky Sport Italia claim they are ready to challenge West Ham for Aston Villa and Colombia striker Jhon Duran.

It is no secret that the Rossoneri have agreed terms with Alvaro Morata, who has a release clause with Atletico Madrid set at €12m and will have his medical in Madrid on Tuesday.

West Ham United have been heavily linked, but baulked at the €40m asking price, something that Milan would probably refuse to pay.

They will never pay what we want for him

Under Emery he actually looked quite good. It helped that Watkins had been told to stay within the centre of the pitch. His direct stats might not show it but see how many goals he had a hand in with the second to last ball in the first half of 2023 and the US tour he was the star.
