Probably nothing in it but BBC gossip page says Olise is open to moving to Man Utd in the summer.

You'd have to question anyone looking at Man Utd as a good move at the moment. I'm sure they'll sort themselves out eventually but there's still a possibility they don't get European football next season.

They offer seriously silly wages, so I imagine there's that.

That was kind of my point though. I completely understand a young player wanting to secure his future financially, but it's not like any of the clubs are offering minimum wage. It's like pretty much anyone who has signed for Chelsea over the last year or so when other clubs were interested. Their motivation is obvious, and it shows on the pitch.

Given how we have done without Buendia and Mings this season, I believe that selling one or both of them would be the best course of action if required. They both have 18 months remaining on their contracts.
Mings at 31 and Buendia at 27, both will command decent fees.

Not after being out for an entire season they won't.
As long as they prove they are fit and able and god willing they both are fully recovered it's with a heavy heart to move Mings on and regrettably to an extent Buendia.
Those player sales make the most sense - if required .

Nobody is going to pay big money for them without knowing they've definitely recovered, is my point. Same with Jacob Ramsey, if we did want to sell him this summer. The injury plaqued season he's just had probably reduced his price tag a fair bit compared to last summer.

So we won't be saying tartar to him then?

Lovely stuff

Re: Duran - it's more his attitude that concerns me more than the ability he's shown. You never know when he's next going to throw his toys out of the pram. It's more a question of whether Emery is prepared to put up with occasional strops or whether he'll want someone who's more of a team player.

Has he thrown his toys out of the pram?

I might have missed something, but I don’t recall any attitude problems, mate

There was that time when he was out of the squad and the only plausible explanation was that there had been a massive falling-out. Which then turned out to be a hamstring injury.

And something about the rest of team not celebrating his goals without sufficient enthusiasm.

What I can't understand is how are Man Utd still generating so much commercial revenue!!

They have been a shadow of themselves since Ferguson left about 11 years ago and in many ways have become a laughing stock. Why would anyone:

A) Go into a sports shop and buy their kit etc? - Embarrassing
B) Be associated with them through sponsorship? - Money down the loo
C) Start to support them (youngsters, glory hunters etc)? - Loads of better options
D) Ambitious quality players don't want to join them? - Loads of better options
E) Poison chalice for managers? - Loads of better options

It is only the unjustified and over abundant media coverage that is giving them a financial lifeline.

Surely that can't last forever!!

Although to be fair, from seeing him play, you wouldn't be shocked if he was a bit arsey in person.

How many number 10's do man utd want? They need a couple of centre halves and some ball winners.

Ethan Ferguson should be the main target in the summer. Totally gettable being the champions league and Brighton being a selling club.

Weren't we linked to Olise the year we go promoted? Or am I misremembering it?  He does look an incredible player, another with that languid style that makes everything look easy, while being technically brilliant.  He'll be a good signing for whoever gets him.

There was transfer news that Manure are trying to get rid of at least 12 players in a mass clearout. Unless the Saudi's decide to spend their entire budget buying these players, I just don't know how FFP will be met with all the loss making sales and the £60-£80mil they will have to spend per player to get replacements in of the quality they will need.

Purging all of his social media of references to Villa when he's not getting into the team isn't exactly screaming of being someone of good character either.

Or believing he purged all of his social media of references to Villa when there were plenty of other valid explanations like brand marketing or change of personal sponsors or loads others.

Abundant media coverage is utterly central to it.  They have a history that is easy to narrativise and, like some 'less storied' (to use a phrase in recent coverage of us in a national online paper that made me want to puke recently) clubs like Chelsea and Man City, were successful just as the English game went global in appeal and interstellar in terms of revenue.  The vast majority of their fans have never been to England, let alone Manchester.
