I can’t really see what’s not to like with this Kellyman deal, should it happen.

Ultimately it comes down to how good Kellyman turns out to be. We’ll be laughing all the way to the bank or regretting it (and folks will no doubt blame the club for being so naive etc).. I know he’s extremely well thought of.

I know on occasions he was on the bench or around the squad but he didn’t get that much game time and did bugger all, so for us to get such a big fee is a no brainer. He plays in a similar position to Rogers doesn’t he and we had no issue with splashing the cash on him, like other young players in the squad our form appears to have moved faster than their development.

It’s about the here and now, he’ll do very well to get in the Chelsea team and keep his place I would think.

I'm honestly more relaxed about the people in charge, and what they are doing, than at any time for a very, very long time.

Who would have thought Rogers would turn out the way he has? As quickly as he has too. These guys know what they want and the only little let down so far has been Zaniolo, even he was a last minute signing to cover Buendia.

The only bit of this that really bothers me is that we need 4 players from our academy to be able to name a 25man champions league squad but whenever someone looks like they might be ready to make up those numbers we sell them. I don't blame the club but this is why PSR/FFP is clearly bullshit.

Newcastle in talks to sign Calvert-Lewin, don’t know what to make of that

The worst thing for a young player is stagnation...when they're kept around without becoming a first team player. Then before you know it, they're 27 and leaving at the end of their contract and wasted what should have been some of their best years. This used to happen all the time with Man Utd players.

I also think players that have come through an academy get a harder time because they've not got a multi-million pound price tag attached to them so no pressure to play them.

At least this system reduces some of this.

I know what you mean, you almost think the likes of Revan, Kessler-Hayden, Barry, Feeney might end up getting stuck at PL2 level to make up the numbers in Champs League squad

He barely plays due to some bad injuries. He had a moment a few years back where he looked like he could go on to be a very good PL forward. As long as stays fit it might work out. But in the grand scheme of things he’s not going to be starting for them with Isak there.

Very good player on his day, could potentially have a Watkins season... if he ever stayed fit. If he wasn't made of glass he'd have left Everton years ago.

Slightly bizarre given they've got Isak - unless he's on his way out?

As regards the various sales we have ir are about to make:

Sanson £4.5m
Iroegbunam £9m
Kellyman £19m
Dougie £50m?

Just wondering if we'll book them all before June 30?

Do we need all of them for PSR?
Will we hold some over to put in next season's numbers,?
Does it actually matter

I guess the position of the other clubs involved  affect things.

I’d be horrified if we signed Calvert-Lewin.

Made of glass and not very good.

It's a 3-year rolling average so this year's figures will be included in next year's anyway.

I always thought that the missing piece for Newcastle is another injury prone striker.
