I don't mind the idea of him but if he doesn't want to come then i steer well clear. If that's the case about it being more Juve fucking him around then that's different.

He probably feels blindsided given Juve teased an extension until 2027 in March which included a pay raise, and they completely reneged and told him his salary would remain the same as they try to cut back on salaries. Bait, switch and bail on him.. poor form.

Still interested in Maatsen, according to Romano. https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1803407789806481840

Matt Law reckons that we will meet his £35M release clause once the accounts are sorted.

I hope amongst all the transfer work we are doing, we've told Olsen he's free to find a new club.

If Duran is such a pain in the arse and the release clause is £35m for Maatsen i think i'd just be happy to straight swap.

As for Olsen, agreed. Despite his decent enough performance at Brighton the idea of him representing us in the CL is utterly crazy.

But if the armchair football economists have it correct, isn't part of the issue that we want Duran's incoming transfer fee this season for PSR reasons, and they would want Maatsen's outgoing transfer fee to be next season for PSR reasons?

Honestly the idea of Olsen being out number 2 next season is not at all crazy. He's a fine keeper, it's other areas we need to strengthen.

I suppose then they buy Duran now for the same price we pay for Maatsen in a couple of weeks.

He's fine at watching the ball go past him.

'Fine' is definitely not a term i'd use for Olsen. 'Improved' maybe, but from a starting point lower than a worm's ball-sack. I mean, come on, you really want to trust him in goal for a competition that we haven't been in since 1983 and have been dreaming of for years? 'Europe's top table'....

I wouldn't trust him at my dinner table...

There would be peas all over the floor, gravy up the walls and the cost in baby wipes would be horrific.

Indeed, it's not something to be taken lightly. We won it before thanks to the backup keeper turning out to be really good.

Depending on what happens with Martinez and the Olympics and how long he'd be missing at the start of the season, upgrading Olsen might be something worth thinking about. Although maybe the Aussie lad is the answer there.

On the basis it would completely knacker our whole style of play if he had to play for any extended period then I’d hope we’ve got alternatives lined up.
