Milan transfer market: focus on Emerson Royal but Tottenham are asking too much

Milan continues to explore the Premier League market, whose priority at the moment is to strengthen the right lane of the defense. The target is Emerson Royal but Tottenham is asking for 25 million, a figure deemed too high by the Rossoneri. Aston Villa full-back Matty Cash is also being investigated, but even in this case the English club's request is considered too onerous

Would take £17m

Lots of things again about Luiz to Juventus this morning.

To be honest, he's done his service by us, he signed a new contract so we get a good fee for him, I would wish him all the best if that's what he wants.

Not sure on the McKennie thing. A cash + player deal might make sense, but I suspect we would want to stage that so we sold Luiz in June and bought McKennie in July.

Juve can't afford Doug.

Edit: just read the Gazzetta article. They are strangely confident, but it is kind of bizarre. I just don't know why a swap deal would make any sense to us - McKennie's wages are higher than Doug's, for one thing.

It says 'the two clubs are working to sort out the figures', which is the usual shit they say when trying to puff up Juve (oh, the honour for Villa, to be preyed on by the mighty Juve! Caps doffed etc etc). Wouldn't surprise me if 'oh but Villa were so unreasonable with the figures' becomes the story.

Really?
We paid £14m and he’s certainly gained in value.
He’s only 27, so we should be looking in the region of £25m, too.

Not too keen on player exchanges as they might not really want to move, so their heart won’t be in it. Take Steven Ireland as an example.

Also, just to be very honest about it, I think Luiz to McKennie is a big downgrade.

Yep, Stephen Ireland is the turd standard of player exchange deals. But there is no way that Monchi and Emery agree to take a player they don't want. They have total control of those decisions and the owners' faith.

Not wanting to go full Footy, but I can see the club taking a close look at any US players that can add value to the squad. Heck would love to be able to use that to market us in the US.

Is that the case any more than just telling a player that they're not needed and selling them?

If we said to Cash this summer "we're buying a hot new right-back, you're not needed any more so we've accepted a £25m bid from West Ham for you", would he be any less motivated than if we'd said "we're buying a hot new right-back, you're not needed any more and we're also buying Bowen from West Ham, you're £25m of that deal".

Same here, I'm hoping these Luiz to Juve rumours go away.

Me too. Though two of Barkley, Gallagher and McKennie in.... Makes it less of an impact?

I’m not buying the Juve links, smells like a team trying to off load a player to me. Can’t see them being able to afford Doug, it’ll be north of £50 mil (surely?). Also can’t see us being interested in their player

McKennie in and Doug out would be rubbish whichever way you look at it.

Fair point, Dave, but it does depend on the player.
Cash, although disappointed, might be one that says ‘okay, that’s fine’ and gets on with it
Ireland, on the other hand, clearly didn’t want to be here. I’m pretty sure he even said that he didn’t want to come, but was told he had no choice.

McKennie in and Doug out would be rubbish whichever way you look at it.

I'd want maybe 50mil plus McKennie to even think about it.

I wouldn’t - if we have to sell Doug then it needs to be something that is just too much to refuse. That is not too much to refuse, I also don’t really want to get landed with a player who was rubbish in a relegated team the last time he played here.
