I think the 3 successive losses of the ball leading up to their goal poisoned the well of his overall performance yesterday.

He had a lot of involvement for most of the chances we had yesterday.

The kid has the capacity to be really, really special.

But, fuck me, when he is bad he is monumentally shit.

If a player scores (or directly creates a goal) whilst also being monumentally shit, I'd say he certainly is special!

For his faults, his major one for me will be solved with experience, that he tries to break a press in the wrong, deep areas and gives the ball away cheaply. But he's clearly been told to keep doing it otherwise he wouldn't have spent so much time on the pitch.

Can feel the discourse turning on him again, which is a real shame.

He's not perfect, but we ain't getting better unless we get insanely lucky, it's as simple as that for me. Lad is clearly knackered, the fact he's not had an injury this season (that we know of) is miraculous. He's got the weight of the team on his shoulders every game and get's picked apart when he's off it.

He's having a bad run, no doubting that, but show me a player that's adapted as quick to the PL without any real support or rest, who's asked to play everywhere across the front line, doesn't get injured, chases nearly every mistake and shows for every ball. He's got an excellent trajectory ahead of him and I really hope we can play a longer part in it.

It takes the pressure off him, reduces his minutes and enables us to use him later in games when the opposition is tiring ?

It’s one of his greatest attributes that he has so much energy. That and his ability to stay injury free make him the asset he is. What isn’t measured yet is his mental fragility, that might impact his performance.

Yeah I wouldn't say he's physically knackered but he looks a bit menatlly jaded.

That was such a good touch and pass. Buendia is alive again now McGinn and Tielemans are back at least, he's finally getting on the ball without some big hairy arsed lump all over the back of him.

A thing I like about Rogers is that he takes 'responsibility' for trying to make things happen. He has the 'X' factor and gets bums off their seats. Arsenal, Chelsea, Spuds are crying out for a player like him. Too many of their players are methodical, predictable and boring. Rogers is a player who is prepared to take risks and if it goes wrong face the wrath of the crowd.

At the moment, not many of his plays are coming off. But he is young and has a great coach who gives him licence. In an aging squad, it is imperative we keep him and build the team around him for years to come.

The question for the summer is whether he wants to stay and how much we want to keep him. I'd say both are questionable, one for his ambitions and one for our need for financials.

I hope he stays.
