Created our goal, should have done better with the other chance.

Created theirs too. Two assists today. His problem is there's nobody else around him to share the load. We rely far too much on him to create something. It must be exhausting.

On the whole he has been great for us this season and has done as much, if not more than anyone to get us into the CL spots.

I do think he will go at the end of the season as there will be multiple suitors, particularly if he has a good World cup.

If we can hold out for 90-100m and get Gibbs White for 60-70m, I would take it.

The BBC's match-report has a section about him that seems a bit... presumptuous:

Quote
Rogers is attracting a lot of attention and the growing expectation is he will leave Aston Villa in the summer.

Villa will likely need to sell a star player, regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League, and Rogers is their best asset - especially with Boubacar Kamara out injured.

An impressive World Cup would also strengthen Villa's hand but the England forward needs to show more of a clinical nature throughout the pitch.

His second-half miss showed a lack of composure which has often hampered him this season, despite having slowly become one of the Premier League's top talents.

He still has 11 goals for club and country this season but none in his past 12 appearances, and if he is to earn a big-money move then he needs to show more consistency to prove he can make the step up.

Rogers is a good player but the lapses in his game mean he is not a great player yet.

At 23, time is very much on his side and the strides he has made under manager Emery in two years have been impressive - and at £16m he has been a bargain since joining from Middlesbrough.

Villa will make a healthy profit on Rogers - but he still has more to prove.

Don't Boro have a 20% sell-on clause?

If they do then the fee goes up 20%.

Perhaps this might have something to do with his indifferent performances of late:

Rogers apoearance today was his 100th for Aston Villa today  since the start of last season.

He is the first English player to do it across the top five leagues in Europe.

No wonder he's been looking knackered.

The worst thing about the assist for Forest was that he had two bites of the cherry.

As others have said, it was a contrasting performance - inches away from majestic, but he was very careless with the second chance. I see a player trying hard though, not burnt out but frustrated. He will come good, however.

Can't help feeling that those entertaining the possibility of his departure are doing the sixist media's dirty work for them in creating a fait accompli.

It can't be sensible for him to play as much as he does.

Can’t see much wrong with that, they highlight the same faults which we all
Know about, which makes him a consistently great player.

I meant that they seem quite confident we need to sell someone for big money this summer and I don't see how that can be confirmed at this point.

True, it does seem to be expected no matter what Euro competition we’re in, not sure who first reported it but a lot of media seem to be running with it now.

Go all the way back through this thread and you’ll see I have been one of his biggest admirers.
The kid has the capacity to be really, really special.

But, fuck me, when he is bad he is monumentally shit.

Monumentally shit is a bit strong, poor finishing and decision making is what it was. These traits are something he’s always been culpable of since he’s been at the club and I don’t think we can iron them out of him. We are going to have to live with it.
