He will go for £100 million, and the next day UEFA will announce a new rule banning clubs from spending money received for transfers valued at lower than £100 million and twenty pence.

It's a bit of a change from playing with Asensio and Rashford to Bailey and Buendia vis Guessand and Sancho.

I don't see any scenario where he's here in September.

Agree.  Think £100m + and he will be gone.

If we get Champions League I think he'll stay another season. We'll shift other players in the squad (e.g. could see us getting 30m pure profit on Bogarde) and make another couple of Maatsen/Onana type signings with a lower age profile. Either way we'll get well over £100m for him and it will be fantastic for regenerating the squad long-term.

Rogers is comfortably now the best player I've seen play for us in 25 years of following the Villa, and I'm including our other 100m player - especially taking the context into account that he's now playing and impacting 90 mins every week in an elite level team, at the top end of domestic and European competition. He's the talismanic player in a much better team than we've had in decades.

This season he has added that consistent goal/assist output that a true world class player has - no doubt he could play for any team in the world. If he does go I'd prefer him move to a European team... I wouldn't want to play him twice a season! Given the fee will be astronomical, I'd have no animosity when he does leave - he's signed every new contract put to him, clearly loves the squad, and always speaks so highly of how Emery has turned him into the player he is.

Understandable "he's sure to go" comments. Classic Villa Fan worst case view (and personal defence mechanism to lessen the blow if he does go). If it happens (unless there's a £100K release clause) it will be for more than £100K and then the "how do we spend the proceeds" quandary. Hopefully not  an after the event scramble as per the Grealish money resulting in poor value for money/inferior replacements. If the club is wise the replacement targets are already lined up and are overseas/hungry/talented (Brighton/Bournemouth) type signings - 3 or 4 players in to make a real difference; failing this AVFC will get scalped (likely for overpriced/less talented UK based players - Gibbs White for £80M etc.) Personally don't think Rogers has reached Grealish's heights yet and, being of a certain age, McGrath and Yorke are well ahead in terms of talent and impact.

I think if we had a slightly younger and deeper squad, the club would fight tooth and nail to keep him for at least another season. There still might be a case for that, given that Malen, Guessand, Martinez and probably Buendia are likely to bring in around 100m of funds if we shift them in the summer. But we desperately need to start bringing in reliable, somewhat proven understudies in key positions sooner rather then later, especially if we get CL.

I fear the club may see any offer of 100m+ as a real opportunity to solve a lot of problems in one foul swoop. Having said that, keeping Rogers on whilst getting someone like MGW in would be a real statement of intent for next season.

If Rogers pushes us as our key player to CL football I think he will be at Grealish's level for us. Rogers obviously has better players around him but he has shown huge quality and resilience this season. From getting jeered completing a pass at Villa Park to his level now is very impressive. He's a tough bit of stuff too.

As happens every four years with International players, the World Cup will probably determine his value next summer.  If he's a first-choice England player, and does well as England go deep into the tournament, then he will become a potential marquee signing for the world's elite clubs - and that will be hard to say no to (for us, and him).

If he's a squad player and does "okay", then I see no reason for him to move - especially if we're in the Champions League and have some wiggle room to strengthen again in the summer.

But the optimist in me thinks he's going to give us another couple of years at least, and will play his part in a few trophy wins before he even considers moving on!

If he has a storming World Cup then we can expect more than £100m so do not even think about letting him go until  after that

If and when he does leave it will be for a record fee for British player - he is already way more proven than Grealish was at his age, and is clearly highly rated by some of the very best managers in the world.

I'm sure I've seen it stated somewhere on the internet that there's a release clause in his latest contract, but that it's unclear what the figure is.

If anyone would like to know about any other things I may or may not have read, and the hazy details therein, I generally read about ponies, boys and pop music.
