...they got 2 starters out injured

I'd be inclined to give them Richarlison as well as Maddison and Van de Valk. He'd started pretty much every game before he got injured.

You're still right though, they don't get to whinge about Romero and Bissouma in the slightest.

Yeah, Richarlison is a tough one, is he any better than Johnson or Kulusevski? I'm not sure so I don't think him being out weakens them to the extent that Maddison does.

I’m trying to find evidence from scanning sports radio and podcasts that we won yesterday. I have seen and heard lots of Spurs losing and threw it away unluckily. Can someone direct me to a place where they commend Villa without it being tempered by the opponent allowing us to win.

And so many of our issues loop back to losing Mings 20 minutes into the season. We've obviously recovered by now, but it absolutely took time!

Having had a read of the post-match thread on a Spurs site, they seem to think that sticking Terry Venables out wide would still be more use than Johnson. They definitely don't seem to be impressed by what he's brought so far.

Think it also means they can stick Son a bit wider, where he's more effective rather than asking him to play as a centre-forward.

'Spurs were without their instrumental playmaker Chas and therefore Villa's victory needs to be put in context.'

Yes read that already. It still needed to feature we beat injury ravaged Spurs. Yet nobody has mentioned the 4 starting players we have been without all season.

Fair enough, I can't say I've watched them enough and, even giving them Richarlison as a regular starter (for a team that thinks they can challenge for the title, yikes) it's still only 3 'real' first team players lost to injury.

Our injury situation isn't the same as theirs though because we bought 2 fantastic players in over the summer, and we had a perfectly good player in Digne. Ramsey was the only one we had to mess around a bit to figure out how to replace.

If we had got to this point in the season and lost 5 players, for whatever reason, we'd be struggling too. We could very well face into Man City or Arsenal without Cash, Digne and Luiz, and given the amount of games we have to play over the next few weeks, an injury to someone isn't impossible either. And then every game we play, and every result we get, will revolve around the narrative that we're missing half the team.

It feels like some people want the media to be falling over themselves to praise us for getting to 4th without 4 players (despite the fact 3 had ready replacements) but don't want to acknowledge the fact Spurs are
now playing a few games with a seriously depleted team.

On the Sky commentary yesterday at the start of the 2nd half the prick commentating said Spurs were down to "bare bones"

I think they sensed a loss was incoming at this stage

Apart from David dart thrower, who else was out for them?

He's a decent player, but he's hardly the second coming of Pele.

Son was there, and that Kulusevski. I saw their goalie and Udogie, Bentancur and Ben Davies. Who else do they have that when not playing, derails their self important rise to the dizzy heights of 4th?

They should be content with having some craft beer and the longest bar in the world.

That's their level

2 x CBs and Bissouma anyway. Dier ain't great but picking four full backs seemed ridiculous and we punished them for it. Richarlison has been brutal for them so hardly much of a loss.

I dunno, if were to go into a match with a lineup of Martinez - Konsa - DC - Pau - Moreno - Kamara - McGinn - Tielemans - Ramsey - Diaby - Watkins, I don't think many of us would be bemoaning our terrible fortune.

I'd like to think that we'd acknowledge that's why we have a squad, in case you lose players to injury or suspension.

Look at the cost of their starting line up as well. I don't remember us getting the amount of coverage Spurs are when we were fielding two reserve keepers.
