We're the crocodile. Quite happy to sit, idle, 2 beats per minute, waiting for a moment to accelerate that heart rate to 200 bpm to cut you open, death roll in behind your defence and if that doesn't work, settle back down.

That is a fabulous analogy and sums us up perfectly

I’ve been thinking lately that Emery likes control in games, but not just positionally - a lot of it is about tempo. We do a lot of ‘slow, slow, fast’ (when we control a start point such as a goal kick), and ‘fast, slow, fast (when we regain possession in our own half, we often make 3 or 4 rapid passes, then actually slow the play down before speeding up again).

I’m guessing it’s partly to ensure that players are in position to cover counter-attacks should we lose the ball, thus maintaining some sort of control over proceedings.

The way some of them are calling Matty Cash out as a 'thug' is bizarre.

5 full pages of them calling him a ******.

https://thefightingcock.co.uk/forum/threads/spurs-v-villa-sunday-26-nov-2pm.48751/page-45

It wasn't even a remotely dirty tackle. Just a bog standard yellow.

I'm glad they're angry because I don't like them.  I hope they are singing their slow shite song and crying into their pillows.

I'm in my later 40s and should know better.

I think they wanted a red for every player in the squad, along with half the youth team, going by that match thread.

Fucking morons.

I hear that Ange Postecoglu is going on Celebrity Bake off next week to showcase his signature dish, the Spurs Crumble.

Assuming he's talking about Spurs there, he's not wrong.

They were only missing 4 of their regular starting 11.
2 of them were suspended.

No one has claimed we put out a b team against Liverpool but we had just as many injuries for that game, and lost a player to injury early on as well.

It's an excuse to explain how 'little' villa went away and beat the mighty spurs and their all-conquering super manager who is revolutionising the entire sport.

Yeah we actually went into this with at least 4 if not 5 first-teamers missing from the first XI (two were on the bench, one came on for a cameo).

I don’t think it’s fair to blame Ange for the entire concept of Spurs. He seems like a decent bloke, and he’s pretty good at his job.

From that quote and with no other context for it given, he's talking about Spurs being without some key players and still performing well. Which is factually correct.

We won. We got 3 points. We leapfrogged them in the table. We're now level with 3rd place. Who f**king cares what Jermaine Jenas has to say? The fact that so many on here seem to be actively seeking his opinions out today should tell you exactly why they all talk a load of shite on a regular basis. Engagement = money.

And we were all laughing and celebrating on here after the last game because they would be without so many players for the game against us. But now we've won they were somehow almost full strength?

As I've said earlier I don't particularly care if the press want to underestimate us or ignore us for now, our job is to shove that in their face in 6months time and make them realise they were wrong. However I can't accept the claim that he's not wrong, he is, it's bullshit, they've got 2 suspensions for being dirty fucks, they got 2 starters out injured, a couple of regular subs missing and a handful of squad filler out. That's not a b team and it's nothing to sulk about or use for excuses. A genuine injury crisis is the sort of things we had under Houllier where we had 12-13 players at once and could barely field a team.

...they got 2 starters out injured

I'd be inclined to give them Richarlison as well as Maddison and Van de Valk. He'd started pretty much every game before he got injured.

You're still right though, they don't get to whinge about Romero and Bissouma in the slightest.
