I expect Man City will run away with it again. They've got a ridiculous squad and still De Bruyne to come back. We need to get to January still in the hunt for the top 4 then get a couple of new recruits in and see if we can last the pace.

Think if Rodri gets booked next match, he misses their game against us.

Mind you, we are in the same boat with Douglas.

Cash has had a bit of a battering for his performance but in fairness its him winning the free kick that lead to the Torres goal. So credit where it's due.

We're the crocodile. Quite happy to sit, idle, 2 beats per minute, waiting for a moment to accelerate that heart rate to 200 bpm to cut you open, death roll in behind your defence and if that doesn't work, settle back down.

That is a fabulous analogy and sums us up perfectly

Agree, I enjoyed that very much.

I didn't notice the murder Cash perpetrated on Bentancur during the game. I've seen it back and, thoughts/prayers aside, it's just a swipe. The kind of swipe you see in every game at every level, every week. It's a booking, thats it.

I thought we bought into their silly tempo first half and let it rattle us a bit. We're the crocodile. Quite happy to sit, idle, 2 beats per minute, waiting for a moment to accelerate that heart rate to 200 bpm to cut you open, death roll in behind your defence and if that doesn't work, settle back down.

Spurs are 100mph and they do play some neat interchanges around the box. Nothing of the quality of our 2nd mind and while I can appreciate Spurs are a good side, probably made better by Maddison, they're hardly a reincarnation of mid-70s Holland.

They can't defend for one. Not helped by injuries yes. Or selection. Every cross that went in their box, we should have scored. Their manager happy to sacrifice some height and coordination, so they could play a higher line to squeeze and congest the space.

There's something quite satisfying about a side having to take a moral victory against us. Spurs have ended their trophy drought by clinching the "I was there when we went in at half time winning 1-1 against Aston Villa" trophy.

They actually didn't have as many chances as you think, given they skied a lot and those were offside. None of their offside goals were even close to being level  I thought, so it.lacked any drama. Still, they pinged it around and pressed us well.

Then Bailey and Tielemans came on, the later being the best player on the pitch and a measure of control emerged. They looked vulnerable on the break. Great 2nd goal for us. Should have had a third.

Emi made a pair of good saves and that was it really, as they were knackered. Good win.

Come on now mate, they've been Champions of August two seasons running.

Champions of August, we'll never sing that!

Jenas has said that we were not that impressive and only just got over the line.

A bit like Spurs in the Champions League Final except they lost.

Jenas on the BBC.

"No-one is looking at his team now and thinking 'this is Spurs', because they are so depleted - and I am still confident about their chances of making the top four when they get their players fit.

I certainly think they will finish above Villa, who I did not think were that impressive on Sunday - they played against a second-string Spurs side and only just got over the line."

He's a better looking Alan Partridge, without any of the humour.   A man that I find impossible to like.

As for who will finish higher, well, we'll see won't we.

Its not that outlandish a comment though, they should have been out of sight by half time.

But it was very Spursy.

It's not outlandish, just wrong :-)

I was nervous but confident too, as I've come to expect with our team.

This is the same Spurs that with their full strength squad and two extra players needed a fluke OG to win at home against Liverpool.

It was only late in the second half when they had run out of ideas did I think we might get away with it.
