Its kinda weird supporting Villa right now.

As a fan of over 40 years, I am conditioned to the 'Villa way' of raising expectations, only to fall at the simplest hurdle.

So While Luton are who they are, I saw this as a bit of a banana skin.

And apart from the Chuckle Brothers at the back making the decision to keep up our recent habit of scoring four per game, there was nothing like a banana skin in sight. Nothing.

So delighted with the result that gives us a bit of a cushion from 5th spot to 6th.

One thing that did piss me off about the game on Sunday actually had nothing to do with us at all, but the people over at SkySports talking about two games in particular. On one hand, you had Robert Earnshaw with his cock in hand, spraying semen around at the excitement of Liverpool dicking Forest. On the other hand, you had Clinton Morrison, practically crying & talking about how boring it was that Villa were dicking Luton. They really are scum...

It annoyed me a bit last night that all MOTD2 could think to talk about after our game was set pieces, the main thrust of which was hilarious 'bants' taking the mickey out of Murphy for his comments about teams having specialist coaches. Very little about our superb run of form and that we've now cemented outselves in that top 5 pack.

They would be at risk of repeating themselves every week if they did that. Our opener was a well worked set-piece and Emery gave Macphee credit after the game so I don't mind them pointing that out. The 'banter' is just the normal bullshit they're always doing that they think's hilarious that nobody outside of them cares about. MOTD2 seems to deliberately set a different tone than MOTD that goes out of it's way to do 'banter'.

It's Chapman. I think he fancies himself as a 'bantz' specialist, but he's just a tit. I used to watch the NFL show with him and a couple of giggling former NFL players, which was considerably worse to the point that i couldn't watch it.

As ever, I found the three of them a bit dreary on the whole but they did pick up on how excellent Diaby is and highlighted that.

To be fair there was very little to analyse in that game. The three promoted teams are genuinely awful this season. Luton are that poor the best teams in this league could and should be resting multiple regulars against them.

I reckon Luton are just treading water until they get the parachute payments next season and can then have a go at building for another promotion push with a stronger squad.

100% agree with this - Danny Murphy is a cock wart

Care to back that assertion up?

first visit to Villa Park this year - thoroughly enjoyable it was too. Can't remember a more stress free 85 minutes (of course we had to Villa it at the end, but no real harm done. Emi clearly wasn't happy obv).

Thought the midfield was outstanding, and like others have said, Luton displayed zero ambition. The fact we could easily have been 2 up after 5 minutes probably did for that.

Was Zaniolo carrying a knock to be subbed ?

Think you’ll find they are just not throwing it at the wall on over paid mercenaries but using the money to fund the new ground is a much safer assumption than they are trousering it.

If that is the way they go then maximum respect

Haven't they already said that the money they will make this year allows them to complete a new stadium - hence they haven't gambled too much on players in the hope of staying up? Seems sensible, if a bit boring to me.

I know he's not directly involved anymore but I've heard Nick Owen on the radio talking about this being the plan. UTV.

Aren't developers building the stadium as part of a wider development and Luton will just pay rent on the ground

I respect Luton for the honesty in that. It’s a rare case of a club being sensible and thinking long term.

Hi Tim, I don't know the detail. Though the impression I have is that having the new stadium secures their long-term future (as Kenilworth Road is not compatible with somewhere that generates income on non-matchdays.)

It would be tough to convince people that it is a move to some form of sustainability if they were to become tenants of a new stadium - though as I say, I don't know the detail.

It's the same owners though, so no different to Villa Park being held in another NSWE company.

True. Well, apart from having Ross Barkley on the books anyway :-)

I used to hate the plastic pitch wankers but i think this season, partly due to nostalgia and partly due to Nakamba, i hope that they stay up.
