Last time I was there the Cafe Royal was a Caledonian Barton's.
Surely you’ll all be heading to the Athletic Arms (The Diggers) to imbibe several pints of Heavy, No?
Quote from: Lastfootstamper on August 21, 2023, 09:33:55 PMTrain Wednesday morning, half eight from Wolverhampton. Two kids in tow, no match tickets, stopping one night, under instruction to bring back honey. Thankfully with the early kick off we'll hopefully be able to watch it in a pub that does food and be out before the 8 o'clock kid shutout. Just need to find a pub...City Centre? Black Bull, Grassmarket. Kids OK before 8pm as long as you're getting food - will definitely be showing it Depending on the kids age, Mary's Milk Bar over the other side of the grassmarket does lovely ice cream

TA.Those of you with Scottish ancestry how do I approach the locals to stay safe? I have heard they can be brash and aggressive after taking a sip of their bottled water?

I have heard they can be brash and aggressive after taking a sip of their bottled water? They are a simple ,humble people. They like to be referred to as Scotch, rather than Scottish or Scots. You shouldn't mention the name of the country, simply call it North Britain at all times. They love the Royal Family so you should give them the opportunity to pay tribute to the king. They refrain from all types of conflict, but love to hear visitors attempting to recreate their accents, even if you have no flair for mimicry. They appreciate the effort. Margaret Thatcher remains a folk hero, a kind of 'mother of the nation' so do bear that in mind during all exchanges and you'll all have a great time!
