I'm not going to predict this until Fri/Sat as my mood is still affected by yesterday so i would post an irrational scoreline

The last thing we need is people posting irrational scorelines on such a meaningful thread. Take the time you need to cleanse your psyche, and we'll all look forward to reading on Friday, "2-1. It'll be cagey but we should have enough on the day."

Never forget that this matters.

-------------------------------------Martinez---Marchall------------------------------
Cash------Konsa------- Chambers------Carlos---------Torres-------------Digne
-----------------------Kamara------------Luiz-----------McGinn----------------------

I think we need to keep this one tight, a clean sheet being most important after Saturday.

So, defensive choices then.

Central defence:

Konsa - Torres
Carlos - Torres
Konsa - Carlos

Or Konsa right back, Carlos - Torres

There are worries for me with all the combinations. Carlos and Torres both have almost no Premier League experience, so to chuck them into together would be a big risk. But then can Konsa be trusted without Mings to organise the defence and lead the unit?

Also both Torres and Carlos look quite slow, so is having a couple of plodders in the middle going to make playing the high line even riskier?

Torres - Carlos - Konsa as our back 3.

If that's how it works, should England take more of a Premier League approach in international games where the opponents' central defenders have no PL experience or is debuting foreigners' supposed inability to cope all down to differences in the refereeing or the weather or something else unique to England? And why do they do fine playing against Villa early in the season?
The poster is  saying you are talking load of gonads, by writing in that well known bollixish script.

Based on last showing I would go
Martinez - Chambers, Carlos, Torres, Digne - Kamara (6), Luiz(7), Tielemans (8.) - Diaby, Watkins, McGinn/Couthinho (Zaniolo).
The making of a new ballplaying defense. Chambers best we have at RB after all (If Chambers get injuried - try Carlos there and put Konsa back in at RCB).

Please, just please...No! Cash and Digne as wing backs would be rancid too. Against the might of Everton too.

I'd drop Cash Bailey and Kamara and replace with Chambers Jaden and Tielemans .

I think our back is going to be disrupted enough with Mings out, and possible Carlos replacing Konsa. I'd leave Cash and Digne where they are. Maybe stop asking Cash to do what Moreno does and just let him defend for the next couple of games.

Cash
Konza

Torres
Luiz
Kamara
Tielemans
McGinn
Watkins
Diaby

Diamond in the middle.

We will be far too strong at home for Everton.

It's hyperbole to say the season has already come off the rails but the optimism felt this time last week has taken a severe blow. Equally it's naive to think that everything will go as swimmingly as it did towards the end of the last season so setbacks are more than likely and as has been pointed out, it's now about how we react. I think we'll react well, but not well enough. I see this rocky patch continuing for a little while longer but we'll come good again.

1-1
