Losing Buendia and Mings with similar injuries in 3 days seems like a massive coincidence.

I’m glad the window is still open, because my god - we need to improve here. This is dreadful.

How dare we be optimistic, this'll teach us a lesson.

Sigh, Emery gone in November and relegation battle to look forward to?

Hopefully we can count on our usual donation of 3 points from the Toffees, and just write today off. When things go wrong for us, they properly go wrong.

4-1 does not flatter them, it bats eyelids while persuading them that they are Barcelona 2010.  We have missed absolute sitters at crucial moments and gifted at least one of the goals, and the ref has been awful in key moments.   It's in the key moments that this stuff matters the most.

I am looking forward to playing these cloggers at home and smashing them again, because they are the most limited 'top 4' team I've seen since Moyes's Everton.

To all the Mings doubters, this just shows how important he is to us. We’re a shambles at the back.

Hope there’s another 100m in the transfer kitty because Zaniolo ain’t gonna help this. This is probably the most unfortunate way to start a season possible.

4-1, Wilson

Put £10 on him to score next. Easiest £100 ever.

One day, you might let us know about your bets before the event happens. It'll be easiest money ever, for us all.

There's no shame in losing to good teams but this has been a total capitulation.

Not acceptable regardless of some mitigation with Mings' injury.

Wilson coming on for Isak and scoring himself is exactly the sort of depth we lack in the final third.

Pretty sure he scored as many as Ollie in the end last season.

I like Watkins, but the Jawdies have two strikers better than him.

Add in Almiron who hit double figures last season and them signing Barnes with his 12 goals for relegated Leicester.

I admire the optimism in people predicting top 4 but we simply don't have enough players in final third who are credible scoring threats, Bailey with just 5 goals a season certainly isn't going to cut it and he'll be back on the bench after today's effort.

Add in Buendia out until March, Archer not really been fancied and Duran injured for all of pre season and very unproven and we are far too light for a side actually in european competition.

We need someone else in on top of Zaniolo seemingly being signed as a Buendia replacement.
