This is all very well and good but I would appreciate if next year you could all refrain from ticket purchases abroad until I have mine. To think, I’ve got more chance of watching us in Minsk than Aston!

Very excited and to whoever said it was some Mickey Mouse compromise tournament, learn to enjoy yourselves!

Yep we've cheated again according to Brightons forum. Jesus.....

Honestly. Who cares what Brighton think. They're a really good team and deserve respect for that but otherwise, who are they really.

Villa were magnificent again today. The second half in particular, we were so dominant. To qualify for Europe after the start we had - has any team done that, ever? Just incredibly proud and excited for Villa's future.

The beauty of it, is we had to do it ourselves, no thanks to Leeds or Man City.  Given where we were when Unai came in, we have been brilliant and I hope we take every cup competition seriously next season.  I can't remember Emi having a save to make, for all of Brighton's possession.  We made far better chances and JJ, happy birthday son, was immense.  What a fantastic player.  We can now turn our attentions to upgrading certain players and making us even stronger.  Fantastic win.  Tense, but John McGinn's bum is a thing of beauty!!

When was the last manager we had that would have delivered what we needed today? It's been so typical of us to always fall at the final hurdle or just fall short. We'd go into games like today and not be up for it, or not quite have the composure.

Emery really has addressed a number of issues (curses?) that have long aflicted this side. Every other game relevant to us ended up pointing to us getting Villa'd, but Unai delivered, and even at 2-1, without too many worries. Brighton to be fair as well, didn't just come for a day out. They were up for it.

Fantastic. I think we're gonna see silverware under Unai.

Douggie was immense really. 2-1 flattered them too. Back where we belong. Enjoy the summer one and all.

Wow, we never won more league games in a season under Sir Brian, Gregory or O'Neill.

Quote
The noise inside Villa Park remains incessant. Bruce Springsteen himself will struggle to be louder than this in a few weeks as the players emerge for a lap of honour.

Villa’s victory today was their 18th of the season, only registering more in a Premier League campaign once before (21 in 1992-93).

Their seventh place finish is their highest in a Premier League season since 2009-10 (6th), while next season will be their first in European competition since 2010-11.

Quote
Midfielder Jacob Ramsey: "It's unbelievable, when I woke up on my birthday this morning this is all I wanted. Two assists, three points and European football again.

"It's tough to put a finger on what the manager has changed. We had talent in the squad but since he came in he has put his foot down and put pressure on us. They have brought in their own identity and style of play."

Unai Emery, manager of the Season.

It's going to take a little while for my blood pressure to return to normal, but that was incredible. What a team !

There will be a few scum 6 teams worried about us now. Hopefully Spurs go bankrupt and we can offer Levy two buttons and a spider for Son.

Don't worry mate, when this settles down and it's a slow news day, someone in Sky will realise over his cornflakes that the real story of the season is the job Unai Emery has done with Aston Villa.
