I know it's just a video game leak, but they're usually accurate.

https://www.reddit.com/r/avfc/comments/1cu2knj/fifa_25_leak_shows_our_new_badge_and_kit/

Its not real. The kit creator link that got posted above is where you design a kit you want and then you download it and install it onto FIFA. It's called modding. You can't do it on console you need to play FIFA on PC to do this. I've done it before.

I think it'll look great, as did the Luke kit.  Appreciate it won't be for everyone though.

I've become more open-minded about kits over the years and so long as we always ultimately revert to claret body blue sleeves, then I'm all for an occasional change.

In the same way I loved the Meson-Carbone stripes, the Macinally Mitre kit and the Dalian stripes.  I even liked the Henson kits, although have much less affection for them because of Steve fucking Hodge.  In those days we didn't have social media meltdowns, people either just liked them or didn't.  I can't recall any sort of outcry that's for sure.

I've always been on the side of the fence of changing it up. As long as it's mainly claret and some blue, then I don't really care. Other 2 kits, do what you want.

Do we need a new "thread" (geddit?) as we're now moving forwards in time and closer to our deaths from 23/24 to 2024/25?

Claret body, blue sleeves, white shorts. As long as it follows that rough template I’m happy. Do what you like with the other 2 kits.

Also those that are not happy about blue sleeves can i politely  remind you of this absolutely wonderful  kit!
You can be as polite as you like, but IMO that abomination was just fashionable leisurewear, rather than an Aston Villa kit.

As someone else pointed out, we didn't originally play in claret shirts blue sleeves, so if they wanted to do an anniversary kit that didn't use that template I wouldn't mind. I also quite like the look of an all claret with blue trim, like the Luke kit, so it wouldn't bother be in general.

However, I think if there's a special Anniversary kit it'll be separate to the home kits and maybe only worn once by the players, which is what most clubs have done lately. First game in the Champions League might be a nice time to wear it.

The away or 3rd kit should be a nod in the direction of the original 1874 kit . Be creative , make it special and it will sell .

I’m with you, mate, absolutely loved the Luke kit.
My first kit was the 69/70 version, so I’ve always liked the all claret tops.
I do like the 56-63  claret and blue versions.

As long as the home kits bodys claret its a villa kit for me! Its ok to  occasional mix it up and not have much or any blue. The following season it will be back to blue.

That luke kits my favourite ever villa home one.  Its epic. Love the thick stripes on it

For me having a clear visual identity for the club is really important. Of course we didn’t originally have claret body and blue sleeves, but as soon as the club had developed a fully formed visual identity in the 1890s, that is what we did have for the next 80-odd years. In fact we were such an important footballing institution that two other current top flight clubs decided to imitate our quite particular kit.  Every time that we deviate from claret body and blue sleeves we dilute our visual identity, and cede territory to the other clubs that are claiming it as their own. Having a punchy, recognisable and consistent crest matters to me for the same reasons.
