How likely is it that we will have the injured boys back next weekend?  That might make the difference to how well we finish the season.

Emery keeps saying "very soon, but not this weekend" but none of them have even been pictured training and Kamara was still in a protective boot last week.

So was Fernandes!

The law of the Villa. Opposition players you hate could have all four limbs amputated and they'd be back to play us. A Villa player stubs his toe and he's out for 3 months.

I do agree with the PL commentary that they worked out our high line could be breached & ran well from deep.  We were never out of it, but only on a few attacks did we look remotely dangerous.

Buendia needs a rest now.  Nothing is coming off, so impact off the bench will increase his confidence.

The fact that we are unhappy at losing away to one of the best teams in the league is a mark of where we are now compared to where we were only a few months back. There were plenty of positives today and, on another day, at least one of those chances would have gone in.

I agree, it was always going to be tough today. United resorted to lumping balls over the top to take their chances getting through our high line.. not exactly the most modern take on football tactics but effective enough for them. Summer recruitment will be important due to our lack of depth, but I think Kamara could’ve changed the game today. Win against Wolves, get back on track and finish the season strong.

We need all 4 of them back for the last few games to have a chance of top 7.
The options from the bench are very limited at the moment.
It makes the business needed to be completed in the summer blindingly obvious.

The only problem with unbeaten runs is that they get addictive and it's always a massive pain when they do finally end.

As others have rightly said, we have a threadbare squad and the fact we're even in the European conversation after the start we've had is mind-blowing. I'm not really sure how much is left in the tank now, quite a few players starting to look leggy and the lack of replacements could be our downfall. Regardless, we are going places with this manager, and next season could be very special.

Not really disappointed as such, they have better players in key positions and are better at shit-housing. Learn and move on and please, for all that is holy, fuck the dogheads over next week

There's no way we'll see all of that quartet back before the end of the season. Cash is the closest and was close to being part of today's squad, but Kamara looked fucked when his ankle got kicked against Chelsea. Coutinho won't appear in a Villa shirt again. So my money's on Cash and Bailey only.

The good news is it’s between us and Spurs for that last spot and they are utter shit

Two wins for us could seal 7th: next week and Spuds. You just can't see Tottenham arresting that kind of slide now.

There's no way Braveheart is going to put himself to play again this season.

There's a good chance he'll not appear in a Villa shirt again then.

Yep looks like they've given up entirely. Harry Kane was just dawdling on the ball, and a Liverpool player just took it off him while he stood there.

Whenever we are doing well they turn up and show us the level we have to aspire to to regularly compete  at the top level. I thought they were incredibly well prepared to counter our threats and test the high defensive  line. Don't  get me wrong I detest them and their supporters but that is the yardstick and I am sure our management  and owners are very well aware of what we need to do to challenge them.

That's a good point. Emery has done brilliantly, but he's only bought one of his own players, and has round pegs in square holes all over the pitch. When he gets his own players in and we have a bit more pace in the team we'll be consistently able to give Man U a game in the top 6.
