I know it's been said 100s of times already...but I really can't believe we have retained Olsen as second choice for this season. He is genuinely awful. Aside from that
- without Mings we have a real lack of pace in our other LCB options, great to see Carlos do so well v Burnley, worried a bit about Torres and don't agree with Lenglet signing
- don't see an obvious challenger for McGinn and Ramsey for those midfield spots on the sides, was hoping A Ramsey could have been one but Emery clearly doesn't agree. Tielemans has had a slow start in his cameos and needs to improve. Good to get the Donk back involved, he has his uses
- Duran as backup to Watkins seems a serious gamble and a bit reckless in truth. Again Emery obviously didn't rate Archer highly
- Diaby looks a big addition, lot more direct than Bailey. Even when not going well he looks dangerous so far and quick
- Zaniolo - nice touches on his debut anyway but was hoping for big things from Buendia this year, he's definitely a loss

You’re a harsh task master Bronte. Even in praising Diaby you reference “even when not doing well” - he’s got two goals and an assist in 3 Premier League starts!

Didn't think he was all that in Burnley...but still a cracking assist and goal 🤷‍♂️. I do like that he turns quickly on the ball and is direct. We needed that. I think we will get a bit more out of Bailey this season too.

I’m quite happy with the squad as it stands.
Maybe due to the fact we’ll be playing a lot more games we could’ve done with 1 or 2 more but Emery seems to have a plan for every eventuality. We are stronger than last season in forward area’s even having lost Buendia for the season and potentially Couthino.

Olsen the big worry for me. He’s an absolute clown.

Not bothered about a right-back, although it would have been easily solved by keeping Young.

A centre-forward would have been ideal world territory.

I'm pretty happy with the business but we're a Watkins injury away from being screwed, just as we were second half of last season.  I find it strange that we haven't adressed this.  For all their many talents, Diaby, Bailey, Zaniolo are not focal point strikers and its probably too early to rely on Duran for any length of time.

I still can't believe Al-Citihad got 40m for one of their youth players. Chelsea really helping them with their FFP it seems.

20m for Trafford, too.

£60m for homegrown players, only one of whom has troubled the first team much.

I think Emery would happily play Diaby and Zaniolo together in Watkins' absence. Last season Bailey played a lot where Diaby is too.

Chelsea, Newcastle, Man City seem to be helping each other out. Liverpool getting disrupted.

What's going on with Palhinha? Romano says he'd done his medicals, had photos taken in the shirt, but now the deal has collapsed?

Edit - apparently Fulham let him go to Germany for the medical while they were still negotiating the deal. German window has now closed and no confirmation that deal was reached. Bayern apparently saying it wasn't.

Did all that before agreeing the fee, and the German window ended at 5pm. So that might have been something to do with it?

Brennan Johnson to Spurs - damn.

Yeah think we might regret that one (if we were seriously in the race to sign him) as I think he is quality.  Think the way we play would have suited him perfectly and although he would have been back up to Watkins to begin with, I think he has potentially got a higher ceiling than him.

Signing him would have made it a very good transfer window.

They made it very clear all window what they wanted for him so if he'd been top priority we could have had him in weeks ago. So either we weren't interested at all or Emery doesn't think he's worth the money.
