Digne was an upgrade on Targett, no question, however not the vast improvement that you see compared to Moreno.  Yet for the money paid and wages spent it should be the other way round.  He's guilty of no more than Gerrard overspending on him and accepting a wage way above what his talent would have got in the market.
If we can move him off the wage bill and come in with a similar fee that we paid then it makes sense, especially to replace with a big character, a fighter and a winner, because we have never had enough of those.  We've always been a bit nice!

Bit worried about our recruitment this summer generally, we are injuries to Cash, Martinez and Watkins away from chaos.

On the one hand, the 3 players we've signed are very impressive and are players that should keep the momentum going, possibly even push us further. On the other hand there are still gaping holes as you point out. Got nothing against Olsen personally but i think he's the worst keeper i've seen at the Villa in 35 years. Yes, we have the best one i've seen in that time also but if he gets injured we're fucked. No natural right back other than Cash, and we let Young go. And yes, after watching pre-season i'd agree that if Watkins is out we've got a massive hole there too. So a real mixed bag so far, although there is still time of course.

If we hadn't had the injuries to Buendia and Mings, we'd be another forward and possible a right back option away from a very good window. But injured they are, and it's happened early enough in August so the club to need to get on with it.

Zaniolo worries me, he looks like a permanent injury waiting to happen, and has a few "issues" to say the least.
To be honest I'm also worried about Carlos and Torres.  I've seen nothing from Carlos to suggest he will get back to being a top centre back and he's theoretically been fit for about 4 months now.  And whilst Torres undoubtedly has superb ability on the ball he is lightweight with very poor defensive and aerial stats.  Whether he can adapt to the PL remains to be seen, but if he can you would have thought it would be ideally next to a Mings style brick-shithouse and I don't think Konsa or Carlos are that man.  Unless Carlos becomes very good very quickly, I think we're going to be conceding a lot of goals from set pieces.

Only one way to find out about Carlos and that's to throw him in now. We need a physical presence, starting this weekend, at centre back with Mings out and neither Konsa or Torres will provide that. Carlos pre season cameos don't inspire much confidence but if he isn't able for the likes of Maupay now then we are best finding out quickly and moving him on.

I know Emery rates Torres very highly but that signing has always worried me. Not to come across all Graeme Souness but I really worry about Torres ability to handle the physical side of "our league". Would be great if he could settle in next to Carlos with likes of Martinez and Kamara helping out. If that doesn't work I fear our defence could be battered over the next while without Mings.

PSV looking to take Sergino Dest on loan, I think we should be all over that.

Liverpool still interested in Kamara, apparently. Can't see us entertaining any offers for any of the midfield at the moment.

£60m and above, and I'd sell. I think as promising as he is, we could could get a more consistent player and really help FFP at the same time. Even if we spent £60m on a replacement.

Not at this stage of the season. None of the top 11 or so players should be allowed to leave now

Liverpool are looking a bit desperate for a midfielder (or several) at the moment, we could probably push for a lot of money, but still, I can't see us losing any more regular first team players this window.

Bearing in mind Lavia is going for £60m odd, I’d expect at least £80m for Kamara and I wouldn’t be selling anyway.

I wouldn't sell Kamara but I sometimes think we rate him better than he is.  Whilst he can be brilliant he makes a lot of mistakes and does have some poor games.

I would sell at £80-90M if it was on the table.

Yeah he does need to develop his decision making but that’s not wholly unexpected for a player of his age. I don’t think we overrate him I think he’s an exceptional talent, and is widely regarded as such.

I would not be selling a 23 year old Kamara for any price. What an odd decision that would be. Almost akin to wanting to get rid of a 23 year old Luiz when his quality was there and needed nurturing.

They were going to pay £110m for Caceido from Brighton before Chelsea fucked them over.

Kamara is a stronger player than Caciedo, so any bid from them that is to even be considered as a thought that we might just start thinking about having a conversation with them, must start at least £110m.

And maybe double that, purely because its Liverpool...

But for me, I wouldn't sell at all.

We weaken ourselves in a position that it has taken years to find a decent player for.

And we strengthen a club that is bordering on our rivals.

Especially considering how weak they currently are...

I like Kamara, but I watched back the newcastle game yesterday and I thought he spent too much of the game not putting in much physical effort in general, whilst contributing not a lot.

I wonder if the talk has got to him?
