Sounds like Gala are willing to accept a 3m initial loan deal but want to make it an obligation to buy arrangement.

Which pretty much negates what we’re trying to protect against.

We need at least 3 more after Zaniolo for me. Centre half, right back, winger.

Can't imagine there'll be another winger unless we ship out Bailey or Traore.

If there's an obligation to buy we shouldn't have to pay a loan fee or his wages while he's here.

Why not?  It's all part of the package.

Because I said so.
We give them a few million now and pay his wages with an option to buy. Or they let us have him for free for a year and we buy him next summer. Those are my terms.

In all seriousness though, I know they're just trying to protect themselves, but an obligation to buy a player whose knees could implode at any moment seems very high risk.

I think we all need a lift after last week with a big signing. We have to cover the loss of Tyrone and Emi Buendia. It's over 3 weeks now since Diaby signed, Emery said himself that we're working on further signings. Hopefully this is the case.

Nature of the game though, isn't it. Galatasaray took a big risk on signing him in the first place for the reasons that you mention.

We seem to have broken the transfer window into 2 - before and after the summer tour. Before the tour we signed players in positions where there were clear holes, that didn't have kids knocking on the door. Then it looks like we used the tour to look at players like Archer, Ramsey and Philogene where we have decided to keep Philogene but move the other 2 on and look to fill those positions. Obviously the 2 injuries have then put another slant onto it.

Where we're concerned, since Friday it's a seller's market. They know we need players and we'll likely now pay more than we would this time last week. As villafirst said, we need a boost now.

What was Zaniolo’s injury record like at Gala?

A striker is way more important than a winger imo.

Not too bad. Few games missed with a groin strain.

No reoccurrence of the big, bad ones from before.

I imagine it's just an accounting ruse anyway, a bit like when we loaned/bought Curtis Davies.

Worth the risk in that case I guess. Ta Dave.
