I hope Maguire does amazingly for West Ham. I know all clubs/fans can have tempestuous relationships with players at times, but it feels like Man Utd fans are particularly awful lately, and they've heaped dogs abuse on this one player in particular.

I honestly don't mind him. He's a decent defender, even if I don't share Southgates idol worship of him.

I also think he's a good player for a team that plays deep.  But Man U were desperate to get rid of him.  Seems to me West Ham needed a master negotiator.  With that said, £105 for Rice and now seeking £90 for Paqueta, they will be in the money.

If I was a WHAM! fan I'd be relieved to see some bodies come in but massively underwhelmed with who they are, and that's with me thinking Ward Prowse is better than just a free kick monkey.

They’re both 29/30.  It’s not exactly building for the future.

If MON was still our manager, we'd have signed Maguire and JWP

If we had that money and were spending it on a player of maguires age and in such clear decline I'd be fuming

Maguire was never £70 million but never as bad as those entitled manchester arsepipes make out .  West Ham are in a similar position to where were when selling Grealish . Bringing 3 in to replace the loss of their best player .  Be interesting to see if they are successful or have a mixed bag like we did

Those are very ‘Moyes’ signings and the suggestion MON would have signed them is absolutely spot on.

They don’t suggest progressive modern football, regardless of the qualities they bring.

United doing a much better job of getting rid of the dead wood now, unfortunately. The below is probably the most they've made from transfers in a good while beyond when they sold players they didn't want to sell
Elanga (£15m)
Telles (£3m)
Maguire (£30m)
Fred (£15-£20m)
This all alongside of others leaving for free who would have been on big wages. They're going to have a lot more flexibility financially in the future (plus UCL revenue)

Looks like they're replacing with players who you know what you're getting (JWP, Maguire), rather than slightly riskier purchases (Buendia & Bailey). Granted, we sort of knew what we were getting with Ings

West Ham bought in a Technical Director identify promising young players from across Europe but Moyes hasn't approved any of those recommended, and has instead finally got his way by the looks of it. There's quite an indifference over philosophy there, doesn't seem very coherent.

Moyes is just another MoN, he can be moderately successful in short stints but has a very clear ceiling and when he tries to break that all his limitations become obvious. This is just another example of it.

West Ham kind of struggled a bit last year balancing Europe and the league. Now they have to make the step up again from Conference to Europa and they've only bought 2 players, to essentially replace 1. Maguire has European experience, which I suppose is a plus, but if I was a fan I think I'd be wanting maybe 4 or 5 new faces at lower prices.

There was plenty of talk about Moyes and their director of football clashing over transfer policy, and I think it was along those lines. These 2 signings imply Moyes has won that battle for now, but I'd imagine he's one of the managers who'll be on borrowed time very soon if things don't start well.

I bet MON is so jealous of Moyesy and the British squad being assembled. "Could have been me. Damn my litigious nature!"
