I hope this shows that Birmingham World indulges in rubbish as much as Insider, Fancast et al. Would Tyler Adams really be an upgrade on Luiz?! https://www.birminghamworld.uk/sport/football/aston-villa/aston-villa-make-decision-on-midfielder-with-transfer-on-the-verge-of-being-sealed-4248587

Genuinely can’t recall last time I read anything as detached from reality as this, and I’m including novels in that.

It’s claimed Tottenham would be interested in Luiz, who finds himself slipping down the pecking order at Villa Park amid increasing competition.

What a load of horse shit

A horse would be embarrassed dropping that in the street.

Ross Barkley signs for Luton

Another one slips through the net. Emery and Monchi out!

Those are very ‘Moyes’ signings and the suggestion MON would have signed them is absolutely spot on.

They don’t suggest progressive modern football, regardless of the qualities they bring.

David Moyes strikes me as the sort of person who, in the words of Frankie Boyle, spends his holidays abroad pointing at a picture of egg and chips on a menu.

If MON was still our manager, we'd have signed Maguire and JWP

They suit the kind of football Moyes wants to play. But I'd say he is on borrowed time at the athletics grounds despite the Euro trophy (16 points less in PL than season before). Many reports of serious discontent at board level whether to back Moyes or the DoF. Can't imagine any DoF keen to sanction those two signings and the likes of Ings last Jan with little or no resale value.

It feels like we're done.

I've no doubt Emery is going to lead us through an exciting season, but I feel we're light up front.  Cam hasn't done enough for me to feel we could comfortably rely on him if the worst happens to Ollie.  I'm not sure a 5ft 7 Diaby is a viable choice to lead the line either.

We're also light at right back, but clearly, there is a plan there.  Even so, if we're not signing one I would have liked the option of Young to fall back on.

Bearing in mind there were confident estimates of £100-£150m spend this summer I'm slightly disappointed, albeit very pleased with the quality of who we have signed.  (well mainly - there's no doubting Torres' pedigree, but I worry about him defensively in the PL)

I don't think we're done at all. I think we have a few others and we're in a waiting game on them.

I dont think we're done. Emery has said that he'd like to add more so I think they will try to at least.

You may both be right.  I know we do business very quietly, but the links seem to have completely dried up.  It's just got that end of window feel for me already.

I guess we now know who FV is writing for during his H&V sabbatical !

I don’t think so, don’t see any negative in not being linked with every Tom, Dick & Harry Maguire either.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is only one more and for it to be done in last couple of days of window once we have a better idea of whether we are heading to group stages.

Feel the next week or two will be more about exits, Traore, A Ramsey etc & the youngsters to go on loan, stay around.

If we don’t get anymore in I suspect something has gone wrong. I think there is definitely intent to do more.

There's only so many times the tabloid media can link us to the same players before it stops getting clicks.

The shift seems to be the season starting, which is understandable.

I think we would like a couple more but we also need to move some on, otherwise you risk spoiling the 'small family' ethos that Emery's trying to establish.

There was a couple of interesting Monchi quotes about building from stability and even when there's money available to spend, to use it responsibly. Polar opposite to clubs like Chelsea who say their squad's too big and then go and buy several other players to add to it. I'd prefer the aforementioned approach.

If we could move Dendoncker (who hasn't had any involvement in pre-season) and Bailey on, we could still bring in Brennan Johnson and Tyler Adams, or similar. Then that may be it. And maybe add a striker and goalkeeper in the next couple of windows.

We can't do it all in one window. That would be contrary to what they've said about building from stability.
