Ferran Torres rumours still doing the rounds. Loan with an option to buy.

All the reviews if Adams I’ve seen have said that he was the silver lining of the cloud that was Leeds United last season. I think he was injured towards the end of the season and the implication was that losing him contributed to their demise.

I heard very similar comments, that and Bamford missing a sitter. Villadelph has explained pretty much Adams' game, strengths and weaknesses. Adams can be summed up in one word, he's a destroyer. Not much gets past him. Other than he's limited, obviously in a poor Leeds side he took on more responsibility and tried to be more mobile but for a defensive midfielder whose job it is to break up play, he's very good.

True but while he might be a step up from Nakamba he's still not going to offer much on the ball. From memory Luiz has schooled him in recent games with Leeds, at the top level you have to be able to play a bit too. I don't think the Donk will ever be an Emery player really but he has his uses. Think he's a better player than given credit for but looks like he will have to prove it elsewhere. Thought at this stage Tim Iroegbunam would be ready for the first team squad but doesn't seem as if Emery agrees.

I imagine Tim Iroegbunam needs another season in the Championship. Bit like Cameron Archer after his Preston loan, he's done well but he really needs a season where he looks like he's going to genuinely provide competition to the Belgian/French/Brazilian internationals at the club, rather than just look like a (very) good Championship standard player.

I do think Iroegbunam needs another loan. His injury/operation has meant he hasn't had chance to show what he can do during pre-season, so even if he was ready, he's probably missed the boat. He needs to get himself into a good Championship side fighting for promotion and really show what he can do in a team that is performing.

You've just described Marv. A good destroyer but not so smart with the ball at his feet.

How close are we to FFP restrictions? I've seen a few PL clubs namechecked with it in reports this summer (Geordie Arabia and ManUre) but not us.

Presumably the money that we got for you know who plus Chucky a year later offsets a lot of the spending.

Yup. Compare that to Newcastle, who until this summer have been spending £50m here, there and everywhere for years and offsetting it with a few million for Jonjo Shelvey.

Say what you like about Grealish, the whole situation was an FFP godsend.

When was the last time Newcastle sold any homegrown player for reasonable money?

How would they even do it now if they tried? One of the Longstaffs?

If "reasonable money" means seven figures, I reckon Adam Armstrong to Blackburn five years ago for £1.5m.

If it means eight figures, Andy Carroll to Liverpool twelve years ago.

I've been wondering the same thing, at some point we're going to have to start selling a few players, hopefully not too soon, to balance the books. KSA have signed 5 players in excess of our record signing over the last 2 seasons, but they have champions league now, which should help them somewhat.

I don't think our challenge will be balancing the books or anything FFP related, it'll be more about carrying players who aren't going to be contributing anything.

Although having said that, we didn't manage to fill the bench for a lot of matches last season, so can't be that much of a problem.

Tyler Adams would be pretty decent when we want to batten down the hatched or if Kamara gets injured.  But he's 5ft 9.  We're already a very small side, I really do think we could do with a big shithouse if we're strengthening this position.  Also, can we do with what we have for this season and see if Tim can step up next?

I'd rather get a couple of extra players in and potentially be struggling to fit them all in, than get a couple of injuries and have to rely on unproven kids.

It's tempting if it's the right player.  But we do have Kamara and Donk as out and out DM's.  Then we have Luiz who can play that role with Teilemans or even McGinn alongside him.  We do already have a lot of options for the midfield two..

Can Forest hold out on Johnson much longer?

Sounds like Tony Xia levels of shite.

He's dodgy as fuck is Marinakis but gets away with it because Greece is highly corrupt. Has managed to wriggle himself out of heroin smuggling and match fixing charges
