Being linked again with Brennan Johnson. Forest rumoured to want around £40m according to reports. I think he's decent and very quick.

If we get Adams and Johnson in I’ll be delighted and it will have been one hell of a window.

I read that he has. A £20m relegation release clause so not a big risk.

£25m apparently.

£40mil has been their asking price for Johnson since the window opened. Brentford have had 2 bids rejected, the most recent one was £35mil. So we'd presumably have to go quite close to the 40 to get him. I'm not sure holding out to nearer the close of the window will make any difference because they don't have/want to sell him.

We've been linked with him repeatedly all summer, and know how much it will take to get him, so I'm guessing he's one of those on our list but was a bit further down it than some of the players we haven't been able to get?

If we want Adams then offer them Duran on a loan deal as a sweetener. I think it would suit all parties.

I’d go along with that.  How good would the window be with what we have plus:

OUT - Bailey, Donk and Duran on loan
IN - Brennan Johnson and Tyler Adams.

How close are we to FFP restrictions? I've seen a few PL clubs namechecked with it in reports this summer (Geordie Arabia and ManUre) but not us.

Adams seems like a good utility type player which could be very useful in a long season

Presumably the money that we got for you know who plus Chucky a year later offsets a lot of the spending.

Yup. Compare that to Newcastle, who until this summer have been spending £50m here, there and everywhere for years and offsetting it with a few million for Jonjo Shelvey.

Say what you like about Grealish, the whole situation was an FFP godsend.

When was the last time Newcastle sold any homegrown player for reasonable money?

How would they even do it now if they tried? One of the Longstaffs?

If "reasonable money" means seven figures, I reckon Adam Armstrong to Blackburn five years ago for £1.5m.

If it means eight figures, Andy Carroll to Liverpool twelve years ago.

Didn't they already turn down a £40m offer?
