All the reviews if Adams I’ve seen have said that he was the silver lining of the cloud that was Leeds United last season. I think he was injured towards the end of the season and the implication was that losing him contributed to their demise.

On BBC transfer page today:
Manchester City are keen on Rennes' 21-year-old Belgium winger Jeremy Doku as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez. (Fabrizio Romano)

And next paragraph:
Manchester City see Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise, 21, as an option to replace Mahrez. Palace manager Roy Hodgson says it will be difficult to keep the France Under-21 international this summer. (Athletic - subscription)

So they buy both, end up rarely playing either, and then moan about the house of Saud distorting the market. Mangetout.

Doesn't he play in something of a stocked-up area for us?

If true, I'd guess that donk would be on the way. Then we've got luiz/kam/tielemans and Adams for the middle 2 spots and mcginn is going to be playing further forward from now on

Guess he's probably an upgrade on the Donk?

He's a better athlete than Dendoncker, but we can't keep losing height within the squad. I'd be surprised if this one goes through, but Adams is good in the air and can break up play. He was third in the league in Interceptions per 90 behind Casemiro and Paulinha, and Top 10 in percentage of tackles won. Moreover, he is in the top 30 percentile for progressive passing.

On the flip side, he is one of the worst ball carrying midfielders in the league.. hardly even attempts it.

I can see why we'd be linked.. a willing worker on the defensive end and gets rid of the ball quick, but isn't that Kamara's role?

It is kamaras role but like the big kan says, he wants 2 options for each position, we could potentially be playing 60 games next season, and for longevity you definitely don't want players have to play more than 40 a season on top of international duty as well

Absolutely this.

We need to stop thinking in terms of having one player for a certain role, or having one really good player and an untested back up.

Obviously one downside of signing Adams would be F-V telling us this is proof he was right about Chris Heck signing players.

On those graphs it is noticeable how the current villa midfielders are clustered on the better side of the 50% line.  A strength has been how interchangeable they are with Luiz/McGinn/Ramsey and even Kamara being excellent generalists.  There’s a risk adding specialists like Tyler but equally he may allow Buendia/Diaby etc to push further forward.

I heard very similar comments, that and Bamford missing a sitter. Villadelph has explained pretty much Adams' game, strengths and weaknesses. Adams can be summed up in one word, he's a destroyer. Not much gets past him. Other than he's limited, obviously in a poor Leeds side he took on more responsibility and tried to be more mobile but for a defensive midfielder whose job it is to break up play, he's very good.

If he's not sure about that than he can stay at Leeds.

I get the anti-Leeds sentiment but I respect his loyalty and that he might feel that he owes them something. Rather that than a player who's decided before his agent has even finished telling him of someone's interest in him.

Precisely. Incredible insight. Because of course we’ve never signed Americans before or Spaniards /Spanish speaking players for that matter. It’s all different now we have Emery, Monchi and Heck.

Except, he didn’t say it, and you’re getting angry about something you have imagined he might say.

Tyler Adams can also play right back, so that might be the cover wanted for Cash too.   He's a good player.

Yeah, YouTube I know but he looks a very capable footballer. He looks like he’s good at battling / winning the ball back and he also looks like he has a turn of pace and an ability to beat his man. Assuming he can play defensive mid and right back and is still at an age where he’s likely to get better it’s a big yes from me.

I read that he has. A £20m relegation release clause so not a big risk.
