Striker-wise, I think (or more accurately hope) we’re waiting for Tammy to get fit.

I'd like to see us gor for Balogun at Arsenal though. Seems he's on his way out if they get a suitable offer.

That suitable offer appears to be in the region of £50m though.

I reckon if you stuck Archer at a mid-table Ligue 1 team he'd probably pop 15-20 in.

So, no thanks.

Interestingly, Balogun did the second half of the 21/22 season at Boro (while Cam was at Preston).  Ask the boro fans who they'd prefer to have back...  I did a while ago, and while they agreed Balogun is a very talented player, but their view was that Cam would score goals wherever he played, which is priceless, and so they'd prefer to have him back no question.

Balogun is basically a year ahead of Cam, and if Cam has the breakthrough season we all hope for, he could easily be a £30m+ player this time next year.  I certainly don't think a single impressive year on loan in Ligue 1 should be enough to consider bringing him in when we might have our own version waiting in the wings.  Lacazette got over 30 goals in France last year, but he never got more than 14 league goals while at Arsenal (and he's 32 now).  The bottom half of Ligue 1 is Championship standard.

I just posted about this in the Watkins thread. If the story is true that we were pretty much sale agreed on him, we obviously wanted another striker in this window. The fact we haven't been linked to anyone else since, not substantially anyway, makes you wonder.

As I said, I hope it’s Tammy we’re waiting for. I’ve always thought he’s slightly better than Watkins, and I rate Watkins highly too.

Not so far as I know, but was so random I reckon there was something in it.

Think it was the Birmingham Mail regurgitating a story from a Spanish media source a few days ago.  Quoted a figure of €6m.

If that story was true then it wouldn't surprise me that we will hold on for now with what we have and add him in January.

Can you imagine a premier league footballer today being photographed on signing day in a shirt, tie and double-breasted suit?

Still have that scarf, though it's long been retired in favour of a "Coca Cola Cup Final 1994" one, given our for free on the posh train down to Wembley that year.

Iheanacho I'm less sure of, he just doesn't do enough for me, 1 good game here and there tends to hide the fact that he's pretty lazy when things aren't going his way. In all honestly I think the same is true of a lot of the attacking players from Leicester last season, which is a big part of why they struggled, a shit defence/keeper (lets be fair their first choice was far worse than Olsen) and no one working for the team at the other end is a bad combination.

Couldn't the same accusation be levelled at Tielemans?! In fact, I'm pretty sure it was.

No, and not one that looked like a 50 year old Terry Thomas either. Brilliant signing though. Met him a couple of times when he was manager of Burscough.

Fuck that we can't afford to wait till January. It would seriously impede our title challenge.
