There's no new links to get excited about but then again I don't think Diaby emerged until after Torres officially signed, so plenty of time for more excitement.
When I read that I thought meant Ferran! I jumped off my recliner! They sat back down. Though Pau Torres is a great move.

Wish I had a recliner.

MathS. I can't take it any more. Why? ;-)

In the online gambling industry, where I've prayed on the weakest of society made a gainful living for almost 20 years, games are driving by their maths profile. So, mathematics is an incredibly important thing.

But everyone, and i mean EVERYONE says "math" not "maths". It seems to be an industry norm.

You'd fucking hate it.

There was a Matthew (I assume) on our maths degree course. Called himself Math. Knocked me out of the uni pool competition (hopeless underperformance on my part). Was no doubt much better than me at maths. Anyway the maths I used to depend on to make a living from online betting was very straightforward, but I'd never have described it as math.

I’m talking of the people making the content, not the punters.

I still don’t like it.

Who's next then... Can we please have a competent backup keeper and decent competition for Cash??

About the RB signing situation - i think it's probably a tricky one as from the start Emery has said he's not signing players unless they improve the squad. Despite some limitations Cash has been really good in patches and there was talk not long ago of big clubs looking at him.
So we're not going to sign cover, and it's a specialist position and I guess I'm thinking that there's a chance we won't find that player in this window necessarily.

Wouldn't be surprised if we saw another attacker in next

I see the argument, if we had not let Young go. A utility player that can competently cover a position we only have one specialist kind of sees you through. If you want to finish top 6/7 again and go deep in a cup and deep in the conference league, relying on an injury prone right back to play 60 plus games is a recipe for disaster. If we don't buy one, we will be doing so in January.

I wonder if we will follow up on interest in Johnson at Forest, although Steve Cooper said he's injured?  We need another striker.

I think if the money is there Johnson would be a very good buy now. He can play across the front line, second striker and has decent skill, plus a year in the prem. Get him for 35/40 million I'd be happy. Reminds me of Ashley Young mark 1 when we bought him.

I'm not advocating we don't buy one asap, and am inclined to agree about keeping young. Wonder if young wanted guarantees about playing time next season. Perhaps we do have a target or two lined up which is why we let him leave.

I think now we've settled on a strategy, and it's not without risk - the striker situation from January onwards is the other case in point. But we have a manager who is a problem solving genius it seems, so have to trust him to make it work until he gets what he wants

Funny you mention Ashley Jim, because I see some similarities between him and Diaby too.

Agree. Young was great last year but we were overplaying him if you look at it ruthlessly and the odd error cost us. Brentford A springs to mind. Fine margins now if we want top 4

I think we will get a Moreno version at RB and Cash ends up being a solid back up. The GK worries me the most. The minute Olsen is gone we can all relax.

Wonder if young wanted guarantees about playing time next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo aside, I bet there is no 38 year old footballer on the planet who is bothered about guarantees on the amount of playing time they get.

Cash had a few injuries last season, the season before he played every minute of every game, hardly injury prone.
