If we do get him I am a little bit annoyed we have been pushed to near enough £50m for a potential Bailey mark II when we could have had Barnes for £10m less.  All because the fcukin Arabs are distorting the market.  Something very fishy going on.

Just been given an ITK… Diaby done. Will be announced over the weekend/Monday.

It's Drummond.

And I understand why they're trying to get the likes of Diaby, ie players in their prime. But why on earth offer someone like Kante so much money (actually £2m a week, not £500K as I said before). That's 10 imes what anybody else would have offered him, even on a free transfer. What are they achieving by paying such a ridiculous amount for a player, who as good as he used to be, is always injured and miles past his best?

I don't.

You could take Wayne Routledge, now, & he would be one of the better players in the Saudi league.

Diaby, now, is like taking a grown man in his prime & facing him off against a team of 4 year olds with Allan Saint-Maximam thrown in for good measure (along with Newcastle Uniteds FFP figures).

Its ridiculous overkill...

In a list of 'things I really couldn't give a shit about', this would be right up there with Dan Wootton's feelings.

I get that you're annoyed about Drummond falling for a bit of fake transfer news, but I think you've made your point by now, no?

Good summary that , from the bits of seen he's just a shorter version of Bailey .
Barnes would have been a smarter move in my humble opinion.

What might be right for him, may not be right for some.

I get the feeling Emery was not interested in Barnes and with his track record since joining I'd back our boss with whatever he wants to do.

It's sportswashing and it's working. Every other football article at the moment is about Saudi.
Sad state of affairs this

I think Risso's point is why pay him £2m a week when he'd probably have gone for £300k a week. If anything, paying players such blatantly stupid amounts undermines the credibility of the league rather than adds to it. But then there are people who pay 1500 quid for a steak covered in gold leaf.

Is that with or without pepper sauce?

The latest I read was regarding payment conditions to Bayern who would like a lump sum today rather than the normal staggered payments. No prizes for guessing who may have offered them the total fee in one day..
