I can't see him going. He's famous for his loyalty.

I think we'll keep Bailey, unless Saudi offer £40m or so that is.

It's such a weird way of going about things. If what they truly want is a proper, half decent league, then for the money they've spunked on a dozen players, they could get 200+ lower Premier League/Championship standard players, and have what would be probably better than any of the top 5/6 leagues in Europe in no time at all. You could then add a few higher profile players without having to pay the likes of the ageing and always injured Kante £500K a week.

Exactly. Even if they buy 30 high profile players, & ignoring the fact that half of them are over the age of 33, they will still only have 30 half decent players in the league versus 500 shit ones...

Well, we're talking about a guy who's idea of urban planning is a 170km-long line called 'The Line'.

And I understand why they're trying to get the likes of Diaby, ie players in their prime. But why on earth offer someone like Kante so much money (actually £2m a week, not £500K as I said before). That's 10 imes what anybody else would have offered him, even on a free transfer. What are they achieving by paying such a ridiculous amount for a player, who as good as he used to be, is always injured and miles past his best?

It's sportswashing and it's working. Every other football article at the moment is about Saudi.
Sad state of affairs this

I was thinking this earlier, it's not like a normal commercial decision where you calculate what a tempting increase would be. They seem to take some perverted delight in making it obscene for no reason, other than that they can.

Though I guess the agents are also key to selling the idea to the clients, and it makes their cut stupidly large, so maybe that's it.
