It's a disappointing situation, Diaby, if true. As someone else said, he already knows what we're offering, so if he really wanted to be here it wouldn't matter what the Saudi club were offering.

We can (and have) go back and forth all day on the moral or ethical implications of the situation, but purely looking at it from the perspective of an Aston Villa fan, it's frustrating to see. It's annoying, but understandable when we're knocked back for the PSGs or Madrids of the world, but to see a player putting us on hold to wait for a no name club in a no name league with a questionable future, well, even if he came here now it wouldn't exactly be a great start to the relationship.

It's such a weird way of going about things. If what they truly want is a proper, half decent league, then for the money they've spunked on a dozen players, they could get 200+ lower Premier League/Championship standard players, and have what would be probably better than any of the top 5/6 leagues in Europe in no time at all. You could then add a few higher profile players without having to pay the likes of the ageing and always injured Kante £500K a week.

From Fabrizio:

Al Nassr have submitted €43m bid plus add-ons for Moussa Diaby. 🟡🔵🇸🇦

Discussions going on over payment plan and final structure with Leverkusen.

Aston Villa remain in the race after new proposal, still hopeful on player side 🟣🔵 #AVFC

Crucial days ahead for Diaby’s future.

Fuck Saudi Arabia and fuck their corrupt regime, human rights abuse, throwing money at every conceivable situation.

I don’t believe the situation re corruption is at all contrived. It’s what that nation specialises at.

I really hope he chooses us over that corrupt, tick ridden cesspool but am cynical enough to know how much money talks.

Let’s see.

In other news....

West Brom want Hause, Spurs want Dougie, and Liverpool want Kamara, apparently.

They can have Hause, but I can't see us losing any of the midfielders we have.

Maybe getting the players we want is far removed from just wanting them. We just don't know what goes on during the process and the amount of players we are linked with who we actually are after is purely guesswork. How strong were the links to donkey McGuire etc (had a few including me worried as they seemed to be getting stronger) yet with seemingly no truth in it at all.

Even when the likes of Romano stated we had P.Torres (seems to have gone very quiet on the Barcelona one) it still felt like an age between that tweet and him actually being announced.

Not sure we ever seriously considered Barnes - which is a shame

Danjuma - very strange that he was heavily linked pre Spurs loan and now not a sniff - not sure why we would not have taken a loan punt.

Surely UEFA must be watching this dodgy load of shit with SA with a worried look on their faces. If they sit around doing nothing these cnuts will simply just buy their way to the top table and manipulate the game, the Euro breakaway from within. If it is a "world league " created UEFA by definition would be impotent.

The only thing required for evil to prosper is for good men* to do nothing

*sickening to claim the corrupt fuckpigs that are UEFA as good men

Still think that UEFA and the various FAs could play hardball if they wanted to.  I suppose they could say that given the misgivings over Saudi, any player going there will not be eligible for international selection or to play in UEFA tournaments for a stated period of time.  Bit like how the cricketers who went on rebel tours to apartheid South Africa were treated.

What Newcastle Arabia are doing actually saves us a lot of faff. They’re weeding out all the players that won’t have the drive we need before they head in our direction. It can be hard to check for this kind of thing without this new phase in our recruitment process.

If only they’d been about when we signed Collymore, Coutinho etc

If Diaby wants to be playing for France regular he needs more of a competitive league to play in than the Saudi one , he needs to think about that , he isnt exactly Messi who could play in a Greenland league but still get his caps .

I think we will get him.

Al Nassar's transfer ban obviously didn't last very long
