We're still being linked with Felix, but in a "nobody else is making an offer" kind of way. PSG said no to him, and MANCHESTER UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB and Newcastle were apparently interested but not enough to do anything about it. He wants away from Athletico and we're being billed as favourites but also made to sound like his only option.

Talk that we've increased our offer for Diaby to £43m with the Saudi club matching it.

Bild in Germany reporting we’ve made a new bid for Diaby.
Thanks!
Fantatsic.  Hopefully this is the one that comes through now.
I think it's just agreeing the fee.
Great news!
Up The Villa!

Nah, we'll be gazumped by Saudi.

Quite honestly if any player we're linked with chooses the money over the Villa then we dodged a bullet.

Very true. I was just playing Footy up though really who'd gone from the pessimism of the huge competition from the Saudi emergence to rapturous excitement of a potential new signing that he was confident would happen, all within one post and a few moments :-)

Not that i'm totally disagreeing about Saudi but i'm not sure i'd panic too much yet.

The talk is that Diaby is already won over, so I would like to think he would come here.

Have the Saudis taken many players from European clubs?

£43m is a lot of money. It's an exciting amount. Really thrilling. He must be good.

Have the Saudis taken many players from European clubs?

furthermore, have they put a large bid in for anyone around Diaby's age, 24?

Yeah, spot on. Just felt like they are/were going for more established big names.

Neves
Milinkovic-Savic (28 but high profile)

but that's it basically. They haven't actually signed many players to be honest, just been linked with lots

I'd suggest splitting any list of players they sign into under and over 30 because it's the younger players moving that would be when we need to worry. Older players retiring for a big bump to their pension has been done for years and it's only really the excessive wages that is making the difference.

I've never been to Saudi Arabia, and have absolutely no desire to. But isn't it a bit dodgy for Westerners in a lot of parts over there?

I have, and yes it is.

I can't believe all the crazy anti American guff on here today either. I know Biden is an idiot and the economy isn't great, but it's still easily one of the best countries in the world to live in for people of any ethnicity or orientation.

Saudi on the other hand is not.
