Back on topic.

Do Welsh players count as home grown? Or are they treated the same as say French players from a European game squad perspective?

Just wondering if we sign Johnson how it works.

I was looking this up the other day. Welsh count, Scottish don't.

Interesting. I suppose some Welsh teams okay in the English FA Cup so…

They don't have a proper league, whereas Scotland traditionally has (I know, I know) so there's a distinguishing factor.

Why do you say that Wales doesn’t have a proper League ?

Just because a handful of Welsh clubs play in the English system doesn’t mean that the Welsh league isn’t valid. It still gains qualification for Europe

I think it might be a bit of a historic thing. Scotland and England were always considered seperate for football matters whereas Wales, if it does have a league, is so small as to be not worth excluding or identifying for the purposes of player development.

Sound advice, the last 10 pages wouldn't have happened had the sun been shining and car washing was an option.

IMO.

I think this is very true. My pre season boredom factor has been largely alleviated by good weather and drinking with it….the drudgery factor has been off the richter scale today, the whole thing can’t start back quick enough now.
And f**k the tories, goodnight

AshtonVilla, I’m sure your many years working in education have helped you form such an excellent opinion.

Spent pretty much my whole adult life hanging around universities, have taught both undergrad and post grad, and done PhD supervising. Until about six months ago I had had my offices based in various universities for more than twenty years. I still regularly give guest lectures all over the world.

Not schools then. It’s very easy to pontificate from an outside position. However, it sometimes only goes to highlight your ignorance.

In fact ignore. I’d rather talk about Villa.

On the bright side, at least we haven't done anything as cringey as that Arsenal Fan TV Declan Rice thing.

I have five children, the first three of which went through the state system. My sister is a teacher. My ex wife is a teaching assistant and a former teacher. My eldest daughter works in an FE college. I'd say I have more experience of it than most.

First time looking at this today and there’s quite a few pages added. If it’s another discussion about United, City or Town I won’t be angry, just disappointed!
Anyway off to start reading 10 or so pages back.

I wouldn't.

Ha ha, no, nor would I.

Content was a bit disappointing, transfer wise, but not unexpected.

On the Welsh clubs who play in the English system. I think they are classed as 'English' clubs by UEFA because Swansea, slightly bizarrely, represented England in the Europa League when they won the League Cup.
