Well, the last few pages have cheered me up no end. AV84, don’t take it to heart, you’ve been a really good new poster until that fuck up. :-)
It’s mainly tongue in cheek really but it does wind me up with the ‘United’ thing too, fucking arrogant bastards who think they’re the only one. Fuck em. It’s like giving them too much respect.
As for Villa Talk, you’re not missing much if they won’t let you join. Fuck them an all.

Yep, AV84 don't linger on it, just remember to use ManU or ManUre going forward, it's not like it's even any longer to type.

VillaTalk is bad but at least it's one of the few fan forums around that isn't garish in it's choice of colours. If they'd get rid of profile pictures and would let the conversation flow naturally it'd be much better. It's no TBAR though, which was probably the saddest thing on the internet.

Yeah, the whole conversation with the idiot made me realise it wasn't going to be my thing. It reminded me of the old days of IRC when power-mad ops would completely ruin channels.
What you actually had a conversation with a mod and they refused to let you join?  Wtf is that all about?  I haven't been on VT for years.  I just haven't got time for a bit on the side.

I totally forgot VT existed so I just had a quick look. It's horrendous and extremely slow. I like how it tells you what the thread is about. For example, under Tyrone Mings, it says 'player'. Weird.

Then again, I'm not sure why we have developed weird suffixes in our thread titles about what particular players are up to.

"Captain 22/23"
"Out Injured" (even though he isn't)
"on loan at Plymouth" (even though he isn't)
"Thank you and goodbye"

Two people decided to get pedantic about a post I made despite the fact it was very obvious who I was talking about. The thread has since been derailed for about 2 pages by rants about fighting the power.

I understand the wider context you're all so bent out of shape about, but it doesn't apply here, and that's why I've pointed out, 3 times now, that the outrage, vitriol, anger, whatever is misplaced and in this case you're choosing to get annoyed about it.

*slowly shakes head*

You still don't get it.

If we're not doing exactly what you said we're doing above, what on earth would we talk about.

If you think this is bad, you should have been around when Villadawg was here and we'd have 20 page rucks about Spurs' wage bill.

This very site, extremely recently, was the scene of a multi-page argument over whether "Villa" is singular or plural.

In the world of Villa forums, VillaTalk = younger posters, more discussion of football, very meme heavy.

H&V = basically a bunch of almost exclusively left wing forty somethings arguing over the most unimportant things ever and taking absolutely every single opportunity to be pedantic.

Nonsense. I'm not 40 for another month

They wanted to see my facebook page to prove who I was. I don't use facebook. I gave them my LinkedIn, which had enough info to call my place of work and speak to me at my desk, but apparently that wasn't good enough as I 'could be anyone'.

I said I wasn't really interested in playing their sad little games and came here instead.

It annoys me when we go off topic sometimes when I am looking for News .  However I love you lefty baldy middle-aged  loonies

It only veers off when there's literally nothing happening. As soon as it does there are pages devoted to whoever.

whomever ?

No, I think 'whoever' is right.

Possibly, but 'dedicated to he' doesn't scan whereas 'dedicated to him/them' does

Mind you, I managed to get an O Level in English Language without ever knowing the difference between a verb, adverb, adjective etc :)

Again, I feel like the context I used it in made it clear who I was talking about.

It's not about that.  You're really not getting this are you?

What's not to get?

Nobody is outraged, or whatever. You were just plain wrong to say United and hope to get away with it.

In fact, I’m very disappointed in you rather than angry.

Villa Talk 😂

It is true the amount of hoops you have to jump through to post on their site though.

Like I said I found it a bit weird. They have rules about what links you can post and other weird shit I can't remember.

I don't think it's a very welcoming place tbh.

Someone is going to check the site for the first time today some time soon and see this thread and think "Fucking hell! Another five pages! We must be close to signing someone" and then actually look at this, and see it was originally an argument about use of the word "United" which then turned into a secondary long discussion about drifting off topic.

Marvellous.

Serves them right for not looking at the site for hours and hours.

Was just about to post such! Thought there might have been a development only to realise that someone dared to say United.
