Looks like Chukwueze to AC Milan has completely broken down. Can we please snap him up, its 30m.

I saw his goal of the season contender v Madrid. Is he consistently good or has that goal elevated his profile?

Hopefully that's because he's coming to us instead.

I think AJ's got to stay and it's more whether we bring in another DM or whether we loan Tim out for more experience.

With the likes of Ramsey Jr and Tim, I would like to see them given a chance to show they can do it at this level, but that is categorically not the same as depending on them being able to.

Agreed. The midfield is already strong and I don't see us adding to it unless it's for a brilliant goalscoring10 (I still have a sneaking feeling we haven't given up on Pedro Gonçalves, Sporting saying they don't need to sell him is not the same as saying he's not for sale. My guess is they'd be happier with the money in the bank).

Tim was pulling up trees at QPR until Beale jumped ship and the whole team went downhill. Not his fault. I think he needs coaching more than he needs more experience out on loan. He needs discipline to play his role but was given the keys to Loftus Road which led to undisciplined performances. I don't think anybody doubts his talent. Off the bench this season and starting a few early/easy cup games will do him plus working with quality players every day can only help him.

I think Donk will go and Coutinho very much has a question mark over him for me.

Both will go I'd say the Donk is unfortunate in that he's up against likes of Tielemans, Luiz, Kamara and McGinn for game time, Coutinho is long since finished at this level. I'd keep Chambers though. Handy enough squad player and unlikely on a big contract. Bit surprised we haven't moved on the likes of Nakamba and Sanson as of yet based on their positive loan spells last season. Hause is one I think we need to release "by mutual consent".

I did think we would have the new RB and sub GK in by now. Obviously Olsen is nowhere near up to it and Young's contract wasn't renewed a while ago now.

"He is a non-EU player, and Milan only have one spot left in the squad for someone without a European Union passport, having already signed Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea."

Looks like its more to do with non-EU player quota, additionally wanting Pulisic, and the cost.. hopefully, this bodes well for us (if we're interested).

On my list I split the midfielders into dms and cms but in truth we'd be looking at tim and aj as 7th and 8th choices, not many sides will have more depth than that.

I can see why all the big links have been to players like williams, chiesa, goncalves, etc. If we can sign someone up there who fill 2-3 roles our squad looks really strong right through the middle of the pitch. Backup options in goal and at RB are much simpler to fix and can be eased in over months.

I'm thinking if/when we see one(or more) of the many, many midfielders we've been linked with actually sign, the likes of Donk, Sanson, and Nakamba will be moved on. I don't think we're in a position where we need to sell to buy, but if in the unlikely chance we missed out on all of our targets, we don't want to be left with zero options in midfield.

As I was discussing in another thread, Bailey is still on international duty, assuming he gets a holiday after that, and with Ramsey out for a few months, we're already looking a little light for preseason in midfield.

New name I'm seeing this evening, Ibrahim Adel. Egyptian 22 year old left winger. Brighton, Burnley, West Ham, Chelsea, and Brentford all apparently also interested, and Mo Sallah is supposed to have told Liverpool to keep an eye on him last season. He's playing for a team in Egypt at the moment but apparently Brexity work permit issues were a problem, which have now been fixed.

No idea if it's legit, or if he's any good, but it's nice to see a new name in the mix.

32 days to go.

Still very quiet.

If we're getting that top European forward tomorrow as speculated in the thread then it's going to come out of nowhere.

COME ON VILLA DO SOMETHING!

Probably from some lazy journo hearing we are revealing Torres on Wednesday and thinking Ferran, when it's really Pau.

Is A Ramsey up to it? Not seen much of him.

Like you I hadn't seen much of him until he moved up to Boro. If I recall he first came off the bench but thereafter was a regular in the starting XI. He's that good. It could be argued that Boro missed out on promotion as AJ got injured and missed the play-offs. He's an excellent footballer, brilliant feet, way beyond his years and full of confidence in his own ability.

I reckon Unai is in for a bit of a pleasant shock; for me AJ is the obvious choice to replace his brother, he's that good. He might not have the physicality of Jacob but he never let anybody bully him in the Championship, he held his own and some.

I would go so far as to say that Aaron Ramsey is better suited to Emerys style of football than Jacob Ramsey...

Apart from the highlights which show goal involvements, I saw Ramsey Jnr play one game for Norwich and two for boro before his injury.  He's technically VERY good, perhaps ahead of Jacob at the same age in that respect.  But Jacob is a much more powerful runner with ball, in my opinion.  That might be age, though. It might be Arron has a bit more growing to do yet, and Jacob for example has definitely filled out since the player who went on loan at 19.

He's definitely technically gifted enough to play in an Emery side, so I expect him to be in and around the first team in pre-season.  He's already more than good enough for a top Championship side, so the next step in his development is Premier League minutes, but those minutes will be hard to come by given the strength in depth we now have in midfield.

I don't see any obvious replacement for JJ down the left of our midfield four setup during his injury. Buendia leaves very little cover for Moreno when he plays there so Aaron might get some early chances. Hope he has spent last few weeks in the gym as he definitely needed to fill out a bit.

Aaron Ramsey might get a run out this weekend at the very least. He was training with the squad yesterday, and we're definitely without Ramsey and Bailey for a few preseason games.

The international players aren't back yet either, and a few players haven't been spotted at training, so possible we're without McGinn, Tielemans, Ramsey, Bailey, Dendocker, Sanson, and Coutinho this weekend.

Normally they completely change the team at half time in the first friendly in pre-season. Loads of the kids should get chances, including the likes of Bogarde, Feeney, Young, Patterson, O'Reilly, Kellyman, Richards and Barry. Maybe Wilson too.

We haven't got a keeper at the moment either with Emi and Olson still away.
