Mmm. If that is accurate the much vaunted spending spree won't happen. Again.

Alternatively, if we signed Diaby/ Johnson, Torres late in the window, Kessie/ Adams/ McKennie in midfield as has been the consistent links, and pulled a right back backup/ competition out the hat, it would cost upwards of a further £120m this window, and would indeed have been a pretty large spending spree. Nothing in that article suggested not spending big money, it just suggested that our strategy is to take our time and get who we want.

Not sure I read that article that way.

It’s one of those articles where you can take it to mean whatever you want depending on whichever way you want to believe it

It didn’t say anything, just a page filler.

A very vague commentary and opinion piece.

I’d accept a sensible window. An attacker of some type and a backup keeper. Then perhaps some tinkering in January. I can’t say I ever expected us to have a splurge, especially when the Barca guy did a u turn.

That article is terrible, not only is it vague but the point it's making is just dumb. The 'mistake' we need to learn from is that signings which aren't successful are bad and we should avoid those. I wish he'd told us years ago!

Was just about to post the same, it's mostly just stating the bleeding obvious. It's also poor, because it mentions Diaby as two potential signings, and then repeats the total bollocks about Emery not being a fan of Martinez, when anybody who watches us can see Emi is absolutely crucial to how we play, and he just happens to be brilliant at it.

Yeah the guy is pretty respected but I think that article is just righting something.  The mistake wasn’t spending big - it was buying players without any idea of how to use them - see Danny Ings particularly.

Bailey and Beundia weren’t so much mistakes - they just haven’t kicked on in the way that some of other other signings have.

I would be shocked if we don’t sign Torres plus at least 1 more big signing and a squad player or 2

I’m not sure we could spend the money on all those players even if they wanted to come, it’s pretty unrealistic.

He looks very similar to Bailey on U tube

That is a dreadful article, I thought Collomosse was better than that tbh.

I don't think the copy-paste helps as I suspect some of the repetition is from photo sub-titles.  But even so it reads badly and says nothing other than we're trying to buy players who won't be shit.

All of those players have contributed in some way as well, they were hardly massive failures. Bailey gets some stick and is inconsistent, but again he was involved in loads of key goals last season, much like Buendia.

The copy paste was edited by me too, there was so much crap in it, I deleted the immediately obvious.
