When was the last time we had a squad with this much quality in every position?

Brentford going back in for Johnson with a £35m plus add on deal. They believe a deal is there to be done. So be interesting to see if we firm anything up as he is 100% on our list (not sure on priority order)

I just find it a bit odd that after we did virtually nothing in January and were told that we were "keeping our powder dry" for the summer, that we're not a bit further forward, especially up front where we're at our weakest. Players will need time to adjust to Emery's methods and standards, and so leaving it until the end of the transfer window isn't a great idea.

I'd be happy enough starting the season with the squad we have, even with the injuries, if it's just a case that a few people came in late and need a few weeks to catch up. It's September onwards, assuming we've won the playoffs, and get a cup run, that we'll need all hands on deck.

I guess there have been a lot of off field changes which could have impacted.

I guess it also depends how much they think Aaron Ramsey and Cam are useful.  That’s not been loads of movement to be honest from anyone.  I assume we’re just working down the list

IMO Barnes plays on the wrong side of the pitch based on emery’s current tactics, so I’m not that fussed if he goes to Newcastle.

If speculation can be believed we are aiming high for the Bailey upgrade. Asensio and Williams are both right sided forwards.  I imagine that is the standard we are hoping for with Brennan Johnson pencilled in if they don’t materialise.

Either way, I reckon this player will be one of the last signed as the top targets will be waiting for champions league offers.

Asesnsio has already signed for PSG hasn't he?

Yep and Nico Williams is staying at Bilbao.
Vinnie says we’re going for Johnson, so intend to believe that.

Brennan Johnson won't be proven enough for some but at barely 22 he's already looked good for Forest in premier league and done o.k for Wales.

8 league goals last season so you'd like to think he could develop further and be 10-15 league goals in near future.

Only issue is the fee given what Forest spend so they certainly won't be accepting bids lower than 30m.

I’m convinced we are aiming really high here and those sort of players will be wanting champions league clubs. We could probably sign Johnson now but we are choosing not too because “Felix” might become available.

With respect, that would be absolutely mental.

To be fair, Moreno didn’t take long at all to slot into the system. I agree it’d be nice to have more through the door though.

I don't see how. Obviously I'm still saying sign new players. I just don't think it's that big a deal if some of them come in towards the end of preseason and aren't starters for the first 3 or 4 games.

Newcastle, Everton, and Burnely are our fixtures in August, and then the playoff ties. I think we could manage them as we are, providing we know there's players there to step in come Septemper and take the pressure off.

Ideally we'd sign all we need to sign this week and they're all there for the entire preseason, but signing them at any point is what's important.

Barnes might well have been on the list but I suspect he was well down it.

If we want Johnson & the price is reasonable we'll get him. But I'm not sure he's a priority either. Emery & Monchi are working on getting things done. Unlike previous managers, I have absolute confidence they'll do whatever's needed.

As players return to training things will start moving.

They are signing Onana so won’t be United. Argie Poch and Chelsea worry me - but reports seem to suggest he likes Kepa so ….

They won't. Man. United are signing Onana from Inter Milan.
