I think wide players tend to split the room opinion wise more than any others, personally I don’t trust them as much as other players on the pitch and find myself berating them for going missing in games constantly.

I don’t know if I’m an outlier or whether others feel the same.

Do we want wide players who come to life in the final third or do we want wide players who track back dutifully? If it’s the former then Bailey needs to significantly lift his game to stay first choice, if it’s the latter then we need new blood.

Emery will know what he wants and I’m happy to go with that, be it a Barnes / Johnson or wide player from La Liga.

Agree with all of that

I see Gnoto was mentioned a few posts earlier. Just watching an old MOTD, the one where he's terrorising Wolves up the left flank. Might be worth a punt.

Wonder if Meslier would be content to understudy Martinez... Guessing not but...

No-one else from Leeds I'd want, I don't think

I don't understand why Meslier is even remotely highly regarded, he always looks like a bomb waiting to go off to me.

Meslier nick name at Leeds is the POLO, hopefully we don't try to sign him.

I was telling my Leeds mates last season they needed to get a decent keeper. By the time they dropped Meslier it was too late.

When he first got in the team he looked pretty good with lots of reaction saves and brilliant keeping but I think his head has gone now and it usually takes a long time for a keeper to put it back on again.

Assuming Martinez stays with us for another season or two, who is even an option to bring in as backup? Any of the proven keepers at top level are either first choice already or want to leave their clubs to be first choice. Is there anyone out there who is proven enough to trust, but also young/inexperienced enough to be happy to only get a handful of games this season?

I would pick literally anybody with two functioning arms and legs over Olsen.

I think we'd be more likely to get someone in their 30s, who'd appreciate a longish contract.

Was thinking this seems the best option too. Ideally we'd have Emi as #1, someone with a lot of experience but towards the end of their career as back up, and then some really talented youngster learning from both of them for a season or 2 with the hopes they'll develop into a starter, or at least competent back up.

Meslier is a strange one, I always think he's going to be awful as he looks like he's 15 and isn't exactly imposing but he's been decent enough for them. Dropping him for that crap old bastard didn't do them much good.

Puli sic is a great player, would definitely want us to be bidding if he is available for £20m

I agree.  He's always looked a threat and can terrorize defenses.  Only downside is his injury record.  If he's fully fit I'd be all for him.

Ditto, but he’s better than Olsen.

We should bring back 2 times Champions League winner Scott Carson.

I wouldn't rule out Douglas Bader tbh.
